Diablo 4: How to increase Difficulty Level

Diablo 4 How to increase Difficulty Level

A week has not passed since the early access launch of Diablo 4, and players are already seeking more challenges and better loot. But since the game doesn’t have an explicitly mentioned difficulty setting in the UI, players are confused about how to increase the difficulty of the game. In this article, we will show you how to increase the difficulty level in Diablo 4.

While most games prefer having a difficulty setting in the Main Menu, Diablo 4 does it differently. Instead of having a UI, the game has difficulty setting engraved within itself as a feature to make it feel more natural, organic, and immersive. This technique has been adopted by many ambitious titles, such as Demon’s Souls, which has the World Tendency system of difficulty. Other video games, such as Zelda and Borderlands, have adaptive difficulty, which makes the game harder the more you progress.

Diablo 4: How to Increase Difficulty Level

Understanding World Tiers in Diablo 4

World Tier Statues are structures that you can interact with while playing the game to crank up the difficulty. There are four difficulty settings available in the game. You start with two free tiers and can unlock two more as you progress through the game. Higher tiers offer tougher enemies and better loot, as well as other gameplay changes. More on that in the upcoming sections.

How to access the World Tier Statue in Diablo 4

The World Tier Statue is located in Kyovashad. So either walk to Kyovashad or you can fast travel to the Kyovashad Waypoint. Notice that four separate lanes emanate from the Kyovashad Waypoint. Head to the northeastern lane, and you will have access to the World Tier Statue. When you reach the location, interact with the statue, and the difficulty interface will open. There are 4 difficulty tiers, namely Adventurer, Veteran, Nightmare, and Tormet, mentioned in order of their difficulty.

Adventurer

If you’re just starting with the game and have no prior experience with any Diablo title or RPG, the Adventurer mode is the best fit for you. Technically speaking, this tier is recommended for players within levels 1 to 50. Defeating the enemies at this difficulty level is a piece of cake.

Veteran

If you have played previous titles of the Diablo franchise or have a decent grip on how stuff works in-game, welcome to the Veteran tier. The Veteran is a tad bit more challenging than Adventurer. Recommended player-level thresholds are 1 to 50. However, the enemies are more resilient, drop 15% extra gold, and give players 20% extra Experience when killed.

Nightmare

First, you need to unlock Nightmare. To do so, you have to finish the Campaign of Diablo 4 in the Veteran tier. Also, you need to complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon located in Kyovashad as a World Tier 2: Veteran player. The recommended player level for Nightmare is 50 to 70. Enemies in this tier are even stronger than they were in Veteran, drop 15% additional Gold, overcome 20% Resistance and provide 100% additional Experience when killed.

Torment

To unlock Torment, you need to complete the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon located in the northeastern region of the Dry Steppes while playing on World Tier 3: Nightmare. The recommended player level is above 70.

In this tier, enemies are more merciless than they’ve ever been, drop 15% more Gold, overcome 40% Resistance, and reward players with 200% increased Experience.

Now that you know how to increase the difficulty of Diablo 4, you can now crank it up for better rewards and the extra challenge. If you enjoyed reading this article, consider following Android Gram for such content in the future.
