Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is by far the most anticipated game of 2024, and for good reason. It has been a long time since Dragon Ball fans got their hands on a new release that’s actually addictive. The recent release has made a grand debut on all popular platforms, which include the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Well, although the overall experience of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S has been somewhat good, it is the PC players who are facing the most issues. The stuttering and FPS drop issues in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero have been troubling the player base on PC a lot, which is why we have shared this guide featuring workarounds to fix it. So, without further ado, let’s get right into the details.

The majority of the issues related to FPS and stuttering in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero are due to the in-game settings preset selected. If your PC is not capable enough to run the game at high settings, you will encounter FPS drops and stuttering if you play the game in the High Quality preset. So, what needs to be done? Simple; lower the in-game graphics settings.

Now, changing the in-game graphics settings can be done via two methods. One is via the in-game Graphics Settings menu and the other method is by editing the engine.ini file of the game. Well, while you might know how to access the game’s Graphics Settings menu, you might not know how to access the engine.ini file. If that’s indeed the case, follow the steps given below:

  • First, begin by opening the File Explorer and then selecting the C drive. Now, select the Users folder, and then enter the folder with your username as its name.
  • In this folder, go to the AppData folder, and then select Local.
  • Here, find the SparkingZERO folder, enter it, and then go to \Saved\Config\Windows.
  • In the Windows folder, you should be able to find the engine.ini file. Right-click on it and then select Open With. Now, select Notepad
  • After opening the file with Notepad, add the following parameters to the bottom of the file:
    • [/script/engine.engine]
      FixedFrameRate=100
      bAllowMultiThreadedShaderCompile=True

      [SystemSettings]
      niagara.CreateShadersOnLoad=1
      D3D12.PSO.DiskCache=1
      bUseFixedFrameRate=True
      bSmoothFrameRate=False
      FixedFrameRate=100
      FrameRateLimit=100.0

    • Note: You can change the FixedFrameRate and FrameRateLimit values to 60 for better stability.
  • Once done, save the changes and then launch Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

After editing the engine.ini file, the in-game FPS drops and stuttering issues should be fixed. But remember that the moment you alter the in-game FPS setting in the engine.ini file, you won’t be able to access online matches. This is because having more FPS in a fighting game gives the player an unfair advantage over his/her opponents. So, if you wish to play online multiplayer and also fix the stuttering issues, try adding the following lines to the engine.ini file:

[/script/engine.engine]
bAllowMultiThreadedShaderCompile=True

[SystemSettings]
niagara.CreateShadersOnLoad=1
D3D12.PSO.DiskCache=1

However, if you want the best performance out of the game by simply changing its Graphics Settings, apply these changes:

Graphics Tab

  • Battle Screen Type: 1 Screen Battle
  • Windowed Mode: Fullscreen/Borderless
  • Resolution: 1920×1080
  • Resolution Scale: 100
  • VSync: Off
  • Anti-Aliasing: Medium
  • Shadow Quality: Off
  • Texture Quality: High
  • Post-processing quality: Medium
  • Effect Quality: Medium/High
  • Depth of Field: Low
  • LOD Quality: Medium
  • Grass Quality: Low
  • Motion Blur Quality: If Motion Blur makes you dizzy, you better turn it off. If not, feel free to try out the different intensities provided.
  • Camera Shake: Off
  • Destructive Effect Quality: High

That said, we hope that you were able to fix the stuttering and FPS drop issues in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero with the help of this workaround. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such content.
