Handhelds have come a long way since their inception. In 2025, handhelds cater to a very big user base and this has led to many developers providing support for handheld systems in their games by default. While most games do work on handhelds, some don’t, especially on the Steam Deck. This is because the Deck, unlike its rivals, uses a custom Linux-based OS rather than Windows. So, whenever a new game is released, Steam Deck users often get curious to know whether that game can be played on the Deck. But this curiosity isn’t limited to Steam Deck users. Rog Ally and Legion Go users also find themselves curious to know how well the game will run on their systems. Well, in this article, we have shared all the details regarding the compatibility of Eternal Strands with the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, & Lenovo Legion Go. So, continue reading until the end if you are curious.
Before we get into the details of whether Eternal Strands runs on handhelds, let’s dive into what the game is all about. Developed and published by Yellow Brick Games and released on January 28, 2025, it is a third-person action adventure where you play as Brynn, who is equipped with magical abilities. But that’s not all. You can even use the environment as your weapon. Well, we won’t be spoiling more of the fun gameplay elements. So, let’s just focus on the game’s compatibility for now.

Steam Deck
As of now, Eternal Strands is not listed as Playable or Verified for the Steam Deck. This is not surprising as the game was recently released, and Valve has not yet tested it out yet. However, there is good news. In a response to a Steam Discussion post by a player, one of the game developers has stated that the game indeed runs on the Steam Deck, despite not being officially verified. Here’s what they said:
Hi there! We may not be “verified” on day 1, but we can confirm that the game runs well on Steam Deck. 😊
So, compatibility-wise, there shouldn’t be any issues while running the game on the Deck. But what about performance? Well, the base runs at an average of 35-40 FPS with XESS Upscaling and Low Settings. If you want performance out of your Deck, you can install the FSR 3.1 Frame Generation Mod and get over 60 FPS on the Deck while playing the game. Of course, the visuals will take a hit but the game will be much smoother.
Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
Based on how well the Steam Deck handles Eternal Strands, we don’t think both the Rog Ally and Legion Go will have any issues running the game at medium/high settings with good FPS. Considering these devices are slightly better in terms of hardware than the Steam Deck, you should be able to get close to 50-60 FPS on these handhelds. And, for a third-person action-adventure, that’s more than enough.
That said, now you know all about the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go support details of Eternal Strands. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such interesting reads on all things gaming.
