There are a variety of problems that can hinder the working of the Xbox app on your PC. Hence, one specific fix will not help you. Microsoft community forums and support pages suggest a few troubleshooting steps users can try. We have listed those steps concisely, so a troubled gamer can speedrun it.

Check for updates:

You need to check for OS updates, game updates, and/or Xbox app updates. First, check for Windows updates, because those are a lot more common. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates. Install the queued updates.
If there are no updates lined up for Windows, check if the Xbox app can be updated. Go to the Micorsoft Store and click on the Downloads and Updates section. Select Get updates.
For users facing problems with a specific game, check if there are any updates for it. The Game pass includes many games that can be played on a PC. And not updating the game for a long time can cause issues.

Repair Xbox and clear cache:

On your PC, click on Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features and look for the Xbox app. Select the app and then click on Advanced Options. Click on Repair/Reset. Wait for the request to run itself and then check if your problem is solved.
You can also clear the cache files for the Xbox app. Open File explorer and navigate this path – %userprofile% > AppData > Local > Packages > Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_8wekyb3d8bbwe > AC > TokenBroker. You will find two directories here – Accounts and Cache. Delete them both.

Reinstall gaming services:

On the Windows search bar, type Powershell. Right-click PowerShell and select Run as administrator. Now enter the following command – get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage –allusers. Press enter. Now copy paste this command – start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN. Press enter. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen when you see the User Account control. Restart your PC and check if the Xbox app works.
