With the 1.18 update, honeycombs have a new purpose in the game. If you too are in need of honeycomb in your Minecraft world then take a look at this article to find out how you can get those.
Honeycombs in Minecraft didn’t have a use all by themselves and were only used in crafting recipes to make other items. But the 1.18 update gives honeycombs a special use and importance. Obtained from bee nests and beehives, honeycomb can be used on a copper block to turn it into its ‘Waxed’ version.

Honeycomb in Minecraft can also be used to craft ‘Candles’ and ‘Beehives‘.
For many redstone builds, ‘honey block’ is an important component. Hence having a large number of beehives can be beneficial. But to have a lot of beehives, you will have to get a lot of ‘Honeycombs’. Hence, here is your guide for getting honeycomb in Minecraft.
How to get Honeycomb in Minecraft:
To get the honeycomb in Minecraft, you will need a ‘Campfire’, ‘Shears’ and a naturally generated ‘Bee nest’.
To craft a campfire, you will need 3 logs of any type, 1 coal or charcoal, and 3 sticks. For shears, you will need 2 iron. Finding a bee nest can be difficult, but here is a trick. If you grow a tree with flowers in its 5 block radius, it has a chance of spawning in a bee nest. Get yourself a few ‘Oak saplings’ and plant them beside a few flowers. Oak saplings and flowers can be obtained very easily in a plains biome. Apart from that, you can also find bee nests in ‘Flower forest biomes’.
Once, you have all three items, continue with this step to get the honeycomb in Minecraft – Place the campfire right below the bee nest leaving a one-block gap. This will sedate the bees. Now, wait for the nest to fill up with honey. You will know when the two dark spots on the nest turn yellow. Look at the nest in this image to understand.
You will also see droplet particles falling from the nest, indicating that the nest is dripping with honey. At this stage, right-click the nest with shears to get 3 honeycombs. Remember, if you do not place the campfire beneath the nest, the bees will turn hostile towards you and start attacking. Players can also shear the nest using a ‘Dispenser’ with shears inside. This won’t require you to place a campfire under the nest. These tricks should be enough to get you honeycomb in Minecraft.
