The Google Pixel series of phones has been the recipient of worldwide criticism due to various reasons, be it their in-house Tensor chip that suffers from abnormal heating or the lack of extensive customization options. However, with the release of the Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, things have improved quite a bit. The Pixel 9 series by Google has received worldwide praise for its buttery-smooth experience and, of course, the camera along with optimizations. Well, if you have bought a phone from the Google Pixel 9 series, you might not be aware of all the features and settings it offers. That said, consider reading this guide to know how you can hide apps in the Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, and the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, and if that’s even possible in the first place.
The debate of whether Android is better than iOS or vice versa has been ongoing for a long time, and there still isn’t a clear-cut winner. Why? Well, although one can argue that iPhones running the latest iOS versions offer a very premium experience, they lack some of the most basic features. One such is Split-Screen. Almost all Android phones are capable of running two apps, but iOS doesn’t offer this feature. Another is hiding applications. You can’t hide applications on your iOS device, but is it the same with Android? No, Android indeed allows this, however; the Google Pixel series doesn’t, by default.

How to hide apps in Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, & Pixel 9 Pro XL?
Android devices from various manufacturers run different custom UIs based on Android that have their own advantages and disadvantages. Samsung’s One UI is known for being minimalistic and highly customizable. Whereas Google’s Pixel Launcher offers a pure Android experience (Android v14) without any custom UI. So, for someone who likes a seamless and pure Android experience, the Google Pixel series is a must. However, for this, you will have to compromise on some of the most basic features, including hiding apps. Since there is no hide apps feature by default in the Google Pixel 9 Series, you will have to install a third-party launcher for the same. For this guide, we recommend you download the Pixel Launcher from the Inspire Theme Team. Here are the steps to download the Pixel launcher, and hide apps using it:
- Begin by opening the Google Play Store and searching for the Pixel Launcher via the Search bar.
- Once found, select it, and then click on Install.
- After the launcher is installed, make sure to set it as the default launcher. To do this, go to Device Settings>Apps>Default Apps>Home App>Pixel Launcher (the one that has been installed).
- Next, open the launcher, and then press and hold an empty space on your home screen to open a mini-settings menu. Here, select the Home Settings option.
- Now, scroll down until you find the Hidden Apps option.
- Here, tap the “Select Apps” option and select all the applications that you want to hide. Doing so will make the selected applications disappear from the App Drawer.
