Emojis are a huge part of modern texting. They help you express yourself better and have interesting conversations with a person. Emojis vary depending on the messaging app. But there are some social apps in the market that do not have personalized emojis or emoticons. These apps usually allow users to feed emojis from their keyboard in the text they send. One such social app is Instagram. Instagram does not have customized emojis for its platform. There are other forms of emoticons though. Users can send gifs or stickers that are available on Instagram. However, emojis can only be sent using the device keyboard. This brings us to the topic of this article. How to see emojis that are squares on Instagram? Let’s dive into it!

Why do you see squares instead of emojis on Instagram?
The virtual keyboard on any device has a set of emojis. The set that is provided with the keyboard should preferably be up to date. When I say that the emojis should be up to date, that means it should include all the new emojis that are being introduced in other keyboards or other texting applications. The emojis need not be the same, but there should be an alternative for all the emojis that are currently circulating on the market. When a virtual keyboard app fails to keep up with this demand, users are faced with the squares instead of emojis on Instagram and other similar apps.
This problem can also affect the default keyboard on the device system. The default virtual keyboard that comes pre-installed with any device is updated along with a system update. And if you haven’t updated the system software for your device in a long time, it can prevent your keyboard from having all the recent emojis.
When the person sending you the text has all the latest emojis on their keyboard, they might send a few of those with a text. If your virtual keyboard app does not include the new emojis, you will see squares instead of those emojis even on Instagram. This is a sign that your system is not able to interpret the message because it does not have the necessary tools or info to do so.
How to see the emojis?
The only logical fix for this problem would be to update your keyboard or your system software. Hope that the virtual keyboard used by you has updated its list of emojis as well. After the update, you will be able to see the emojis instead of the squares, not only on Instagram but on any similar application. A similar problem can also be seen on Whatsapp. Whatsapp is the most commonly used messaging application that has a wide variety of emojis. Whenever the emojis receive an update, and you haven’t updated the app, all you will see are squares. That is until you go ahead and update the app. Once the app is updated, all the emojis will be clearly visible.
