Some of the famous content types like Korean dramas and anime have proved that a viewer can miss out on a lot of good content if they focus on the language. Instead, watching them with subtitles will help you bypass the language barrier and enjoy quality content. Hulu has a ton of Spanish content that its users may be interested in. The mainstream content is always prepared all the way. There will always be subtitles available, that too in multiple languages. Hence, you rarely expect a piece of content to not have subtitles. But if for some reason the subtitles for particular content are not available on Hulu, use these troubleshooting methods to fix it.
Fixes for Hulu subtitles not working:
1) Restart Hulu:
Restart the Hulu app on your device. Exit the app and return to the home page of your device and then remove the app from the list of recently used apps on your device. Open the app again and play the content that wasn’t displaying the subtitles on Hulu. Check if the subtitles work.
2) Restart your device:
When restarting the app fails to fix the problem, restart your device. Restart your device and then open the Hulu app. Check if the subtitles are visible now. If not, try the next step.
3) Check the device’s accessibility settings:
Go to the device settings. In the search bar at the top of the screen, type ‘Accessibility’. It will take you to the Accessibility settings for your device. There you should see an option for ‘Caption preference’ or something related. Go through the nature of those settings and enable or disable them accordingly. If any of your accessibility settings was clashing with Hulu’s ability to display subtitles, the problem was justified. But after correctly selecting your preferences, there won’t be any problems with the subtitles again.
4) Toggle captions on and off:
Pause the content you are watching and access the options. Toggle subtitles off and on again quickly. If the subtitles on Hulu are not visible due to a temporary glitch, then this step will definitely fix it.
5) Write a request to Hulu:
If none of the above-mentioned troubleshooting methods help you fix the problem, it is possible that the content you are trying to watch doesn’t have subtitles. However, you can request Hulu to add subtitles for that particular piece of content by writing to them. Write to Hulu on the following email ID – captions-feedback@hulu.com. If there are enough subtitle requests for a piece of content that doesn’t have them, Hulu will be obligated to do so.
