Google’s very own smart home services have their very own security devices. This range of devices is named Nest Cams which is pretty fitting when you consider its use. A service that is backed up by Google will automatically build high expectations in users’ minds. And as a well-known tech giant, it is Google’s responsibility to deliver on these expectations. But the Nest Cams are failing to do so with the number of issues users have to go through. One such problem is a non-functioning blue light on the Nest Cam. The blue light on the Nest Cam is a marker for the status of the camera and the steps users have to perform further. And if the blue light fails to show on the Nest Cam, it can prevent a proper setup. However, here are some troubleshooting steps that you should try to fix the problem.

Press and hold the reset button:
Some users might be puzzled after hearing this troubleshooting step. Because the reset button is what may have got them into this problem in the first place. But according to a user, you need to keep the button pressed for about 30 seconds. Use a paperclip or something similar to reach into the pinhole and press the reset button. Keep it pressed until you see a yellow light and it turns off. The time until you see the yellow light will not exactly be 30 seconds.
Now remove the paper clip from the Nest Cams reset button and the blue light should be back in seconds. Most probably, this is the only step that will fix the problem you are facing. There aren’t many reports available online for the particular problem. For most users, this step should be it. But if it doesn’t manage to bring back the blue status light on your Nest Cam, try the next step.
Contact support:
Contacting Nest support is your only option after the troubleshooting step mentioned above failed. As mentioned earlier, finding a fix is difficult when there aren’t many users reports available online. This issue can also be solved if Nest updates its user manual or setup manual with accurate steps rather than suggesting users press the reset button for 5 seconds.
