The remaster of the original Ninja Gaiden 2 released back in 2008, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, has finally made its way to all the popular platforms, except for the Nintendo Switch. Currently, the game is available for purchase on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. As per 2025 standards, the overall gameplay and visuals of Ninja Gaiden 2 are quite satisfactory and the player reviews also suggest the same. The remaster uses Unreal Engine 5, which is why the system requirements of the game are somewhat on the higher side. Well, if you are a handheld gamer with any of the handhelds at your disposal, including the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go, you might be curious to know whether your handhelds can run this game. So, in this article, we have shared everything there is to know about the game’s compatibility details with the Steam Deck, Rog Ally, and Legion Go.
Handhelds are quite capable devices, despite the fact that they are shrunken into the compact form factor and pack only sub-par hardware. While these devices can run almost every other game, not every AAA title can be played at the highest settings possible. Some games even fail to run at playable FPS even at the lowest settings. So, where does Ninja Gaiden 2 Black stand on compatibility? Does it run well on these handhelds?

Steam Deck
It shouldn’t be surprising when we say that Ninja Gaiden 2 Black isn’t listed as Playable or Verified for the Steam Deck. Given the fact that the game has been released recently, it is quite obvious that Valve hasn’t tested it out yet. So, in the absence of official verification, all there’s left is to check for player reports. Well, as per most players, the game does run on the Steam Deck, but not without issues. Since the remaster is based on UE5, the Steam Deck struggles to run it at playable FPS for the most part. If you do want good FPS, you will need to set all the graphics settings to low and then enable FSR. Only after this should you be able to get close to 40-50 FPS, and in some parts even 60 FPS. For a detailed overview, you can watch the gameplay video shared by Steam Deck Gaming:
Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
When it comes to the Rog Ally and Legion Go, things are somewhat better in terms of FPS. Since these devices are slightly more powerful than the Deck, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black runs comparatively better on these handhelds. With the right settings, you should comfortably get over 50 FPS in most areas of the in-game world, with occasional dips here and there. For a hack-and-slash action-adventure game, this is quite acceptable. Here’s a gameplay video shared by Chris Mizo running the game on the Rog Ally:
You can expect similar performance of the game on the Lenovo Legion Go as well.
