After the immense success of the first Overwatch game, a sequel was released in 2022. It’s a first-person shooting game where instead of six players, two teams of five fight against one another for total dominance. There are many interesting game modes, just like in any other FPS game. Well, it’s all rainbows and sunshine until the game runs into issues. And, just recently, Overwatch 2 players are encountering the “Error Starting Game, Try Again Later” issue as they are kicked off the game’s servers, and the cause is still unknown!
Server issues are pretty common in most PC games. It happens randomly, and even the game developers themselves don’t know how or why it would happen in the first place. So, as per the recent reports, pretty much all players can’t load into Overwatch 2, and it just keeps on saying Error Starting Game, Try Again Later repeatedly. So, how can you tackle this predicament? Let’s find out.
Overwatch 2 “Error Starting Game, Try Again Later” issue: How to fix it
The official developers of Overwatch 2 have already acknowledged that this issue is on their end. In their official post on Twitter, they said it was finally fixed, and yeah, by the time you read this, you can pretty much enter the game and play it without any hassle. However, there is a possibility that the issue persists on your system even after the developers fix it for good. In that case, you need to try the given workarounds.
Check your internet connection
Make sure that your very own internet connection is working perfectly. It’s random, but sometimes ISPs reduce or even cut some connections to lower the load. So, you should always check whether your internet connection is not at fault. To check that, just connect your WiFi to your phone or visit any third-party speed testing website to check its stability. If the connection is fine, the problem might be something else, and if it isn’t, then contact your ISP immediately.
Restart your router
This is the same thing as the first workaround. If your internet connection is not stable, then restarting your router might fix the connection issue on your side. It’s also possible that your router may be showing a red LED light, indicating that it is not receiving bandwidth from your ISP. Restarting may fix it if it’s the router itself, or maybe not.
Wait for sometime
If the above workarounds don’t work, at this point in time, there’s nothing else that you can do to fix this issue. If the game still displays the “Error Starting Game, Try Again Later” message, then you will have to wait for some time. So, go out for a quick jog, and by the time you return, hopefully, the issue will be fixed.
Such issues occur from time to time, and Blizzard is quite active in fixing them within hours of their occurrence. So, this issue should be pretty much fixed for everyone, and if in your case the game has started showing some other kind of error code, then let us know so we can guide you further on this.
