Did you ever fancy running a restaurant? Well, at least we did. PlateUp lets you simulate this fantasy without any real risk of financial loss. You can build a restaurant from scratch and run it to success. What is even better than this? You can do this with friends. Instead of going out to eat, you are now in the place where everyone comes to eat and that transition will catch you off guard. At least it would have if the multiplayer was working.
This game has had consistent issues with multiplayer gameplay. Despite being heavily advertised for it, the multiplayer aspect of PlateUp hasn’t been up to par. There are very frequent reports of people disconnecting, blanking out, or straight-up being booted out of the game when in multiplayer mode. This really ruins the experience for a lot of players and many are desperately looking for a fix to this issue. Well, if you too are looking for workarounds to fix this issue, consider reading this guide until the end.
PlateUp multiplayer not working: How to fix it?
PlateUp has a multiplayer system to make it possible for you to team up with your friends. This is a huge bonus to a game like this since it adds a layer of community and bonding as you build your restaurant. This all makes the game much more fun for everyone involved in playing it. While this could be true, currently, a lot of players are encountering various issues with multiplayer gameplay. Well, as per a player report, the developers are working on a fix for it, but it is yet to be implemented. So, in the meantime, here are some workarounds for you to try:
1). Change controllers
Well, one of the players shared that using the Xbox Series X/S controller was causing the multiplayer issue in PlateUp. So, what they did was switch to PS4 controllers, and they have never had any issues ever since. Although we aren’t sure whether this method is reliable, you can give it a try if you have an extra controller lying around.
2). Launch via Cloud
Another method that was spoken about was a cloud launch. What this means is that you launch the game from the cloud and stream it rather than use the installed version on your PC. This is an Xbox Game Pass feature so your results may vary (if you don’t have Xbox Game Pass, that is). You also need to fully uninstall the game for this to work, since an installed copy will always be preferred.
3). Reattempt Joining
If the issue persists, consider joining multiple times. Several reports suggested that attempting to join the same lobby a number of times eventually bypassed the issue.
4). Make the Lobby Public
Check whether the in-game Lobby settings are set to Private. If so, consider switching it to Public and then check if the issue persists.
5). Region locking?
There appears to be some form of region-locked matching for this game, as Reddit users have pointed out. This is also an issue since it locks you to a region and if your friends are too far away, you cannot play with them. Unfortunately, this seems to only be solvable through an official fix but you can try using a VPN and then check if the issue persists.
6). Check internet
If the issue is a server-side one, there is little you can do. Make sure to check your internet is stable. If your internet connection is slow, not responsive, or down, you might want to switch to a faster and more stable network.
7). Change Steam Privacy Settings
You can also try changing Steam Privacy settings to Public (for PC) to fix this issue. Since the Public Setting allows you to interact with a wider group of players, this can potentially solve the issue as well. Here is how to do it;
- Open Steam, and head over to your Profile menu.
- Now, click the Edit My Profile option. Here, you will see the option to change Privacy Settings.
- Next, make it Public. Save the changes.
Well, these are all the workarounds to fix the multiplayer issues in PlateUp. If none of them work for you, you might need to wait for an official patch to come out before you can play multiplayer.
