Well, Shiny Pokemons are pretty rare in all Pokemon titles. Pokemon Legends Arceus will be featuring the same base Shiny Rate as older titles. However, you will also be able to maximize the base rate by completing particular tasks. A paradise for shiny hunters, as some are referring to Hisui! What is the base Shiny Rate in Pokemon Legends Arceus?
The probability of spotting a Shiny Pokemon is 1/4096. As you can infer, the base rate of spotting a Non-Shiny Pokemon is 4095/4096. That’s not much! If you have played previous Pokemon games, you may know that all of them feature the same rate for Shiny-s. Then, what’s so special about Hisui? Well, there are quite a few ways you can modify the base rate in Pokemon Legends Arceus to feature much higher probabilities. Older titles also did feature ways to modify shiny rates [in a good way], but Pokemon Legends Arceus is just giving way more! You can modify the base shiny rate up to 1/128! That’s a much better probability, don’t you think?
How to increase the base Shiny Rate in Pokemon Legends Arceus?
Shiny Rolls – You gotta get loads of ’em! You should reach Research Stage Level 10 “Complete!” for a species to unlock the first shiny roll. This will raise the shiny rate of that species to 1/2048. After that, you can get two more shiny rolls for completing all tasks related to the species, achieving the research level “Perfect!”. That’s a total of three shiny rolls and it will increase the base rate to 1/1024.
Obtaining a Shiny Charm will get you three shiny rolls! However, to obtain a Shiny Charm, you will need to complete Research Level 10 with all 242 entries of the Hisuian Pokedex. Once you have completed this major part of the game, speak to Professor Laventon in the Galaxy Hall of Jubilife Village to get your Shiny Charm. All of these sound familiar – adding a Shiny Charm to Complete and Perfect Research Levels will increase the shiny rate to 1/585. This rate was achievable in previous Pokemon titles too.
Now that we are here, Hisui also hosts events known as Mass Outbreaks. According to Anubis, such events add a whopping 25 Shiny Rolls! Mass Outbreaks are random events in which a large number of a particular species spawns in a location. It lasts for a limited time, but is enough for Shiny Hunters looking to pounce at each available opportunity! If you have completed both research levels and obtained a Shiny Charm, visiting a Mass Outbreak will increase the shiny rate of a particular Pokemon to 1/128!
Can we catch shiny variants of every Pokemon in Hisui?
Unfortunately, no. You cannot get Shiny Starters or Legendaries in Hisui as those are shiny-locked. However, the shiny rate in Pokemon Legends Arceus has received an intriguing modification as compared to previous Pokemon titles.
