Experience points are the most fundamental elements of any game. These points stack up, and once they fill your experience bar, your level increases by one point. That’s how most games expect you to level up, and Remnant 2 is also one of them. But there’s a catch: you can boost your experience gain with one single consumable item. The buff doesn’t last forever, but still, it’s a good addition to have. The item in question is Mudtooth’s Elixir.
Most Elixirs grant buffs and these buffs may last from a few minutes to hours. In this case, Mudtooth’s Elixir lasts for a full 60 minutes. The best part isn’t the duration itself, but what else it grants while the buff is active. Let’s see the real deal.
Remnant 2 Mudtooth’s Elixir: How to get & find
Mudtooth’s Elixir isn’t something that you can just get as a drop or inside a chest. You need to buy it from a specific NPC. Facts aside, let’s now discuss what exactly this item grants. Mudtooth’s Elixir is yet another Consumable item in Remnant 2. It’s homemade, and that alone makes it a good drink to have. Apart from that, after consuming this, the user can enjoy a 15% Increased Experience for an entire hour. The part that makes it overpowered is that the buff doesn’t wear off even if you die. So once consumed, it’ll stick for an entire hour, whether you like it or not. You can jump into a highly challenging quest and stop worrying about its effects wearing off. Some buffs reset or even disappear altogether when the player dies. Fortunately, Mudthoot’s Elixir isn’t one of them.
Its usage is pretty simple. However, we know that some players might be wondering if they can stack it with other items. The answer is yes; you can stack this buff with other consumables. There are no restrictions. But only one Mudtooth’s elixir will be active at a time. In simpler terms, you can stack it with buffs but not with another Mudtooth’s Elixir. It doesn’t matter how much you consume in one go; the effect will remain the same. So only one bottle can be used at a time. Instead of reusing them and possibly running out of elixir, save them for bigger hordes of enemies. Now, let’s see how you can get it in the first place.
Mudtooth
The path to unlocking this elixir lies solely within an NPC of the same name. Firstly, you must locate an NPC that goes by the name Mudtooth, which most of you guys have already guessed. He’s the father of Brabus, and he likes telling stories. Players can unlock many kinds of concoctions by simply interacting with Mudtooth and listening to his brave tales. Some may even give you a hint about some rare weapon—who knows? Wondering how you can locate this NPC? Well, it’s pretty simple. Just get to Ward 13 as usual and look for a merchant who is sitting near a campfire of some sort. He has many bottles on his back, and he also wears a round hat. He’s an old man with a white beard, so locating him won’t be that difficult. So, once you locate him, just interact with the old man.
The Stories
After interacting with this NPC, he will start telling how his life went south, which gives us a hint that the character must clean up the world before asking for his help. Do not skip his life story; listen to it from top to bottom. Once this is clear, go and start grinding. The main requirement here is that you take revenge on those foul beasts and free this world of misery. Once the story mode has been entirely beaten, you can then interact with Mudtooth and get an elixir. This time he will act as a vendor rather than some old man who just likes to talk. Each Mudtooth’s Elixir costs x500 scrap, which isn’t that cheap or super expensive. In his interaction, he also asks you if you want to take a shortcut. And then, without any user interaction, he further proceeds by saying, Have a sip, and this elixir will do that for you.” In a sense, it’s a shortcut, and players who know about it will use it in each run. So to balance that, the developer made sure that each player could use it only once at a time instead of stacking it over and over. But there’s something that’s bothering many players. Do you know what that is? Let’s find out.
The Bug
These aren’t your typical bugs that you love to destroy. In this case, it can destroy your hopes. Due to this bug, many players aren’t able to get this elixir from Mudthoot as it doesn’t appear in his inventory. What if a similar thing happens to you too? As you may have known, there was a bug in the trait system that was making trait points disappear overnight. Some even had negative trait points, which is just insane. Click here to read more about that bug. However, as of now, that issue has been fixed. So, what about this bug?
We don’t know for sure whether this issue is caused by corrupted files. But we do know that Remnant 2 has bugs, and the appearance of a new one doesn’t surprise anyone. Fortunately, the developers have officially fixed the problem. However, if the issue persists, here is a simple workaround for you to try:
Workaround
A random workaround that is floating around the Remnant 2 community may fix this issue. So, what you need to do is reroll your campaign. But there’s a catch: you have to set the new campaign in offline mode. To change the mode, you must follow these steps:
- Open the game menu by pressing the M button on your keyboard.
- You will see six main tabs on your screen. The first one will be your Archetype tab, and the second one will be your Character Tab. If you noticed it, then it’s good. Now, look for one that spells System and press that.
- On the System tab, you can see a list of options. In your case, what you need is the Game Session option. This is most likely the second option; just press it.
- Now, you will be presented with three options: friends only, offline, and Public. Make sure to select the Offline option.
After performing the above-mentioned steps, you can start rerolling the campaign. If you are wondering how many times you should reroll, the answer is just once. Then, you need to beat the second world boss of the new campaign and then visit the Merchants in Ward 13. Mudthoot’s Elixir should be available in Mudthoot’s inventory now.
