Fixes for Ring Doorbell 4 not detecting charging:
1) Check the battery charge percentage:
Open the Ring app on your device and tap on the three lines at the top left corner of the screen. Select the “Devices” option and then select the problematic doorbell device from the list of devices. Select “Device health” to see the battery percentage for the doorbell. If the charge is too low, keep the battery connected to the charger for about 5-6 hours. Because that is how long it can take to fully charge a Ring battery. After the battery is charged, check the app again to make sure that the battery percentage is at 100%.
2) Check the cables:
Check the charging cable that goes into your Ring Doorbell 4 battery. Make sure that there is no sign of damage on it whatsoever. If you think small damage should be something that you can work your way through, that’s just the casing that looks moderately damaged. The wires below may be completely broken or detached from the plug. Replace the cable if you see signs of damage. If the cable is fine, check the charger. Connect it with a different cable to see if the doorbell charges. If it does not, the charger might be broken. Getting it changed can solve the problem.
3) Check the power outlet:
Open the Ring Doorbell app on your phone and go into “Devices”. Select the problematic device and check the “Power status”. It should say “Good” or “Very Good”. If you see one of these status reports, go to the next step. However, if the power status is “Poor” or “Very Poor”, you should worry about the electricity connection first. Contact a local electrician to diagnose the actual problem.
4) Make sure there are no tripped breakers:
While at it, get your electric panel checked. All the connections to your house, including the one to the Ring Doorbell, are sourced from the main panel. The lines are divided using breakers. So if a breaker is tripped, it can affect the charging of your Ring Doorbell 4.
5) Get new batteries:
Replace your old batteries with new ones. The doorbell batteries can die down if they are exposed to heat or direct sun rays. And even if the device is not exposed to extreme environmental stress, batteries can go out more often than you think. Hence, getting new batteries to fix the charging issue for the Ring Doorbell 4 is the way to go.
6) Report the issue:
