Fixes for Ring Doorbell 4 not detecting motion:
1) Tweak motion detection sensitivity:
Open the ring app on your phone. On the top left corner, you should see three lines. Tap on it to open the menu. Select “Devices” and select your doorbell. Select Motion settings > Motion Zones. Changing the Motion Frequency will adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensors on the doorbell. After making the necessary changes, motion detection will work on the Ring Doorbell 4.
2) Reset the Motion Zone:
Follow the same steps as given in the previous one. Adjust your Motion zone so that areas with high movement, like the sidewalk in front of your house, are not in the “Motion Zone”. This way you can filter the alerts you get throughout the day about motion detection by the Ring Doorbell 4.
3) Turn on alerts:
Make sure that alerts are enabled on your phone in the Ring app. You might think that the motion detection feature isn’t working because you aren’t receiving any notifications. But that can also mean, you don’t have notifications enabled. Check that and proceed with the next step if needed. Also, turn off “Motion Scheduling”. Motion scheduling can limit the number of alerts you get on your Ring app. This can prevent alerts even when there is movement at your doorstep. If you can see a clock icon against your Ring device in the app, motion scheduling is enabled. Turn it off to prevent missing out on notifications.
4) Contact support:
If none of the troubleshooting steps mentioned above work, try contacting Ring support. For this particular problem, you might not be the only one facing it. Users are already disappointed by the lack of package alert on Ring Doorbell 4. So giving Ring the valuable feedback about their product is necessary.
