Is your Samsung TV Solar remote not working? Are you not able to use the remote even after keeping it under sunlight for quite a while? Well, the issue here could be the result of various factors, and we are here to help you find out what exactly is causing the problem in your case and troubleshoot it. So, consider reading this guide until the end.

When it comes to home appliances, Samsung is a brand that resonates with many. From phones to appliances, Samsung devices can be deemed trustworthy and they also provide good post-sale service. Due to this, their market share in various categories is relatively higher than that of other brands, but that also varies based on different countries. That said, one of the many useful devices from Samsung is the SolarCell TV remote, which in itself is very useful. It is basically a TV remote that is compatible with the 22 BU8000, and BU8570 TV models from Samsung, but its highlighting feature is the ability to get charged using solar energy. It comes with a solar panel at the back that you need to place facing the sun for the device to get charged. This is a nifty feature, as you don’t have to worry about getting new cells for your remote every time its batteries die. However, tech, as always, is prone to issues, and the solar remote not working issue is one of them. So, is there any fix?

As stated already, this issue can arise due to a variety of reasons, which is why you need to try every workaround listed here.

1) Charge

The primary and most common reason why your Samsung solar remote might not be working is none other than a dead battery. Do you remember when was the last time you charged the remote? If not, consider keeping it at a surface that receives sunlight, exposing it to the solar panel. After around 30 minutes, check if the remote works. If not, then consider using a USB-C cable to charge it. Also, as suggested by Samsung, you should make sure that there isn’t any plastic film inserted at the bottom of your Samsung Solar Remote. If there is, remove it and then use the remote.

2) Check Remote Battery

If, even after charging the battery, the device doesn’t work, you need to check if its battery percentage is being shown by the TV. For this, use the TV-mounted controls to navigate to the TV Menu (Settings > General Settings > Power & Energy Saving > Available Remote Battery). If this doesn’t show anything, then there are two possibilities, the battery is damaged, or the device is not paired.

3) Pair the device

The issue of the remote not working can occur if it is not paired. So, to pair it, follow these steps:

  • First, turn on the TV.
  • Next, point the remote towards your TV, and press and hold the “Back” and “Pause/Play” buttons on the remote for 3 seconds.
  • If all goes well, you’ll see a prompt on your TV to initiate the pairing process. Follow the instructions and then pair the device. Doing so should fix the issue.
  • However, if there is no prompt or the TV displays that there is no remote to pair, then it clearly means that the remote has malfunctioned. In that case, try pairing it to a different device and then again to your TV.

4) Reset

Another workaround worth trying is resetting the TV remote. To do this, press “Return” and “Enter” for about 10 seconds. This will reset the device. Now, try pairing it with your TV.

5) Check IR Blaster

It is also possible that the remote isn’t sending signals to the TV. To make sure that’s not the case, open your smartphone, launch the camera application, and point the camera towards the IR blaster on the remote. Now, press a button on the remote and check through the camera application to see if a light glows. If it does, this means that the remote works, If not, it is either out of charge or damaged.

That said, now you know how to troubleshoot the Samsung Solar Remote Not Working issue. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such unique guides related to tech.
