Yet another addition to the survival genre of games is none other than Soulmask. Developed by Campfire Studio, and published by Qooland Games, it is a sandbox title released under Steam’s Early Access program, featuring both PvP and Co-Op survival elements in an open world. In the game, you gain access to a mystical mask that provides you with unlimited knowledge and divine powers. With this, you need to build your presence, grow your tribe, and survive the harsh reality. One of the most unique features of the game is that it gives you the ability to take control of any NPC in-game. With nearly 10 masks for you to discover and make use of, Soulmask is the ultimate survival experience you should try. But wait. Since you are reading this, it is likely that you have a handheld device. Wondering whether Soulmask is compatible with handhelds like the Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go? Continue reading for more details on the same.
Handheld devices are very popular in 2024 and almost every new game comes with default support for these devices. If a game is available on PC, it is more or less likely to support handhelds like the Steam Deck, Rog Ally, and Legion Go. This allows the game to be more accessible to a wide variety of players. However, not all games are handheld compatible, especially the Steam Deck, as it runs on a Linux-based SteamOS compared to the Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, which use Windows. So, what’s the compatibility status of Soulmask for handheld devices? Here’s everything you need to know.

Steam Deck
As per player reports and developer responses, it is clear that Soulmask can be played on the Steam Deck. Although it is currently neither listed as Deck Verified or Playable by Valve, players have had success running the game on the handheld. But there’s a catch. As of now, Soulmask doesn’t have full controller support implemented. Due to this, your experience while playing it on the Steam Deck won’t be as good as you’d expect. Players have shared that the in-game controls don’t work well with the Deck’s input and that a custom template is needed for the same. Thankfully, the developers have released an announcement regarding the situation. Here’s what they said:
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have conducted several tests with controllers and Steam Deck, but we currently believe they are not yet perfected enough to offer to all players. Therefore, we did not indicate controller support in the store this time. However, the game does support the use of controllers and Steam Deck for your experience.
Please note that you may encounter severe bugs such as freezing during your experience. If this happens, please restart the game. We also welcome you to report any issues you encounter through the community or the in-game feedback portal.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
Well, it seems that Soulmask has been developed with handheld gaming in mind, and due to this, its performance on the Deck is quite good. However, the lack of proper controller support is currently a hurdle, which we are sure that developers will take care of. Given the game’s early access nature, it is no surprise that such features are currently missing. However, based on the feedback provided by players, we are sure that the developers will release an update soon to bring full controller support in-game.
Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go
Similar to the Steam Deck, both the Rog Ally and Legion Go can run Soulmask but the experience won’t be very immersive due to the lack of proper controller support in-game. So, it is recommended that you wait for an official update from developers that introduces controller support in Soulmask, or build a custom layout for controller input for the time being.
For now, this is all the information we have regarding the support details of Soulmask for Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally, and Lenovo Legion Go. If you find this article informative, consider visiting Android Gram for more such content on all things gaming.
