Unable to pay for Spotify Premium? Is Spotify not accepting your debit card? Well, it could be anything from having insufficient funds to a server issue on Spotify’s side. Well, if it’s an issue on your side, there are a few fixes and/or workarounds that you can try. But before that, make sure that Spotify isn’t down. Payments failing often point to a gateway error, which is a subset of a server issue.
Spotify’s Premium plans come in four choices:
1) Individual – $9.99 per month for one account
2) Duo – $12.99 per month for two accounts
3) Family – $15.99 per month for six accounts
4) Student – $4.99 per month for one account
All the plans include the premium Spotify experience, which is ad-free music, on-demand playback, and offline listening. The family plan includes access to Spotify Kids and a setting that allows blocking of explicit music. And if you are a student, you can enjoy Hulu (ad-supported) along with your Spotify Premium. There are a few payment methods you can choose from to pay for Spotify Premium, including credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, gift cards, and more. But if Spotify isn’t accepting your debit card, it could prove to be a major inconvenience.
How to fix Spotify not accepting a debit card?
So, some users reported that they received a message regarding their payment not going through on Spotify. But they were using a perfectly working debit card to pay for Premium. Regardless, they tried using other debit cards to check. To their dismay, Spotify refused to accept any of their debit cards. If you are facing the same problem, don’t worry. We will help you figure out the exact cause of this confusion. Check the following:
1) Make sure your bank has enough funds.
2) The billing address for your Spotify Premium should point to the same region as your debit card.
3) Although very obvious, make sure that you have entered the correct card details.
4) You may be using an expired card. Check to see if your debit card needs a renewal.
5) Make sure that your bank allows foreign, secure online, and recurring purchases for your debit card. To check for this, you can either check your bank’s mobile app settings or call your bank for help.
6) Try using an incognito tab on your browser to make the payment.
If none of the above seems to fit your situation, it could just be a connection issue. Make sure that your network connection is strong. Also, make sure that your bank’s network isn’t facing an outage. You can call up your bank to know. Or, it could entirely be a problem in Spotify’s servers. Try making the payment after a few hours or a day. If it’s urgent, see if you can use a different payment method to pay for Premium.
