If it’s music, it’s Spotify. The music app is hugely popular worldwide due to its extensive collection of premium quality music and podcasts. But, apps always have their share of bugs. If the Spotify app refuses to respond on your Xbox One, you are not the only one. The app has been behaving funny for many people now.
Quoting a user complaint on Spotify’s help community, the user had to deal with a completely unresponsive Spotify app. According to the user, while listening to a song, an ad was played, and after the ad finished, the next song wouldn’t start playing. The user then opened the app and tried to play a different song but was disappointed. The app wouldn’t play another song. The user tried everything: hard resetting the console, uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, and logged out and in the app. But, the Spotify app refused to respond.
Spotify unresponsive on Xbox One: Fixes?
The post by the user attracted similar comments from several other users. It seemed like many users were facing the bug specific to Xbox One. However, a moderator of the Spotify Community, Mihail, was kind enough to post a possible solution to the problem. We have listed the solution in steps for you to understand better.
- First, uninstall your Spotify app from the console.
- Switch off your Xbox One console.
- Unplug the console from the power source.
- Let the console rest for about a minute before plugging back.
- Plug back your console and switch it on.
- Reinstall Spotify from the store.
The above steps should be able to solve the issue. However, the moderator had highlighted the step of unplugging the console and allowing it to rest for at least a few seconds. It is a very overlooked but crucial step. So, the user should make sure to do it without fail.
There’s another tip if the above solution doesn’t work. The moderator had also talked about checking whether Xbox, as a third-party app, can access the Spotify app. You can check that by logging into Apps page. If yes, follow these steps to remove access.
- Login to the Apps page.
- Click REMOVE ACCESS beside the Xbox app.
After removing access, log in to your Spotify account again.
Users facing the unresponsive Spotify app issue on Xbox One should try the above solution. If it doesn’t work out, don’t hesitate to contact Spotify’s customer support from here. We hope the issues are resolved for you as soon as possible.
