The open beta of The Finals started on October 26th, 2023, and will be live until November 5, 2023. The closed beta was live for quite some time, and with the release of the open beta, it seems that the official release is just around the corner. Anyway, with the game’s open beta going live, there has been a massive influx of players trying the game out. Even the developers officially mentioned that their servers had started to reach their limit within 24 hours of launch. But the good thing is that they are actively working on increasing the server capacity, so you might not need to wait long to play the game. Anyway, players who have access to the game have reported that they are unable to invite their friends via the in-game menu. Yes, these beta participants are experiencing an issue where they cannot invite their friends. So, if you are struggling with a similar issue, consider reading this guide for more details.
This specific bug is more likely caused by the overload of servers. Since the open beta started, the developer team has been trying their level best to increase the server capacity. But this is still a work in progress. So, is there anything that you can do to get rid of this issue? Well, you can try the given workarounds.
The Finals Unable to Invite Friends Issue: Is there any fix yet
Restart the game’s client
This workaround was mentioned by the developers themselves via Twitter (X). Here’s what they mentioned:
“Due to the nature of the latest fix on Xbox and PlayStation, there is a known issue with friend invitations on first launch; this should however resolve if both parties reboot their clients (that’s the game!)!”
In short, restarting your game client on the console may fix this. Also, ask your friend to do the same. The official team knows that this issue exists, and it’s most likely to be fixed in due time.
Enable Crossplay & Set Matchmaking Region To Automatic
Enabling crossplay may also fix this issue. If the mentioned workaround didn’t work, try enabling crossplay in-game. Here’s how you can do it:
- Open the game.
- Select the Settings option.
- In the settings menu, head over to the Gameplay tab, and find the Crossplay option under the Network section. Now, make sure to toggle it On.
- After this, ensure that the Matchmaking Region option is set to Automatic.
Note: If you are still unable to invite friends in-game, consider changing the Matchmaking Region, and trying again.
Optional Workaround
This workaround might not seem relevant, but you can still give it a try if the above-mentioned ones didn’t fix the issue.
- First, exit the game.
- Next, open your browser and head over to the official Steam website.
- Now, log in to your Steam account and go to The Finals’ Steam Store page.
- On this page, press the F12 key on your keyboard.
- This will bring up the console. In the Console tab, type “RequestPlaytestAccess()”, and press Enter.
- Now, press the Play button and check whether the issue persists when the game launches via the Steam client.
