TikTok is one of the most famous apps used these days. The app is popular among people who love to sing, dance, and showcase their talents to the world. It is also popular among people who like creating as well as recreating videos. TikTok also offers TikTok DMs features. DM stands for Direct Message.
Through the TikTok DMs feature, users can send a direct message to a certain user. This is a great way of connecting and reaching out to a fellow app user for several purposes. However, some users have been complaining that they are unable to use the Direct Messaging feature. This could mean that users are unable to receive Direct Messages. Alternatively, it can also mean that users are unable to send a Direct Message to one or more users or both. Let us find out more about this TikTok DMs issue.
Here are some workarounds that users facing problems regarding the TikTok DMs can try
- If you are unable to open the TikTok DMs column or the page fails to load, it may be due to connection or network problems. In this case, the first thing that users are recommended to try is ensuring that they have a good and stable internet connection. Try switching your cellular network to Wi-Fi or vice-versa. Try reconnecting your internet after disabling it as well. You may also switch your device to another mobile hotspot network.
- If you are unable to receive Direct Messages, it may be due to your account settings. TikTok users can choose who can send them a DM. If you have chosen “No One” in the “Who Can Send You a DM” option then no user will be able to send you a DM. So check your settings and change them as per your needs.
- If you are unable to send Direct Messages to a particular user or a few users but are successfully able to send the same to the other users then your TikTok Dms may be blocked. Like you, other users can also decide who can send them a DM. If they have not allowed you to send them a DM, you won’t be able to send them a Direct Message.
- Your account may be blocked. Some users block other people’s accounts. This is different from not allowing to send a DM as in this case, you won’t be able to see their account at all. So make sure that you are not blocked by a particular user.
- If the problem is related to loading or DMs not working at all, check for app updates. Update your app to its latest version and clear the app cache and data. Reopen the app and see if the TikTok DMs are working now.
- Lastly, uninstall the TikTop app from your phone and re-install it.
When app servers are down, users are unable to use certain or all features. Make sure TikTok isn’t down. TikTok DMs will work once they fix the server problems. Also read, How to message TikTok about banned accounts in 2022?
