OTT applications have taken the content streaming scene up a notch by providing users access to a wide range of movies, TV shows, etc, at the tip of their fingertips. Earlier, movies were exclusively released in theaters, but now, even though many movies make their debut in theaters, some are released on certain OTTs as exclusives. As there are a ton of movies you can watch, there are also a ton of OTT platforms that offer unique content and features. One such platform is Tubi. Released back in 2014, the platform has over 80 million monthly active users, which is a huge number. Now, the USP of Tubi is that it is free, but it is not free from issues, especially on Roku TVs. There are multiple reports stating that the Tubi application doesn’t work on Roku, for some, the application just crashes, while others have reported getting stuck on the loading screen. So, how to fix the problem? Are there any workarounds for the same? Continue reading this guide for more details.

Well, the primary cause of this issue is still not known, so there isn’t a surefire way to fix it. Instead, you will have to rely on workarounds to get rid of this problem. In the next section, we have shared a few workarounds to get Tubi to work on your Roku TV, so let’s get right into it.

Restart

Before you try anything too complex, you should start by simply restarting the application and then check if the issue persists. If it does, consider restarting your Roku TV. If the issue was a result of a bad boot or conflict between applications, a simple restart should fix it. Also, after turning your TV off, unplug it from the power source for a while and then plug it back in to turn it on.

Check Internet

Now, it isn’t surprising that you’d need an active internet connection to access all the content in Tubi. If the internet connection is not stable or is slow, then the application won’t be able to load the content, resulting in this issue. So, make sure that you are connected to a stable network. You can try switching to a different connection or use a wired connection to increase connectivity.

Disable Auto Display Refresh Rate

You can try disabling the Auto-adjust display refresh rate option via the Advanced Settings menu on your Roku TV to fix the problem. To try this out, access the Settings menu of your TV, then select the System option. Now, select Advanced System Settings, and then Advanced Display Settings. Here, make sure that the Auto-Adjust Display Refresh Rate option is turned off.

Ad Blocker

If you are using an ad blocker, then consider disabling it or whitelisting the domains used by Tubi, as blocking them will cause the application to not work. The domains you need to whitelist are as follows:

  • popper-engine.production-public.tubi.io
  • uapi.adrise.tv
  • license.adrise.tv
  • s.adrise.tv
  • sb.scorecardresearch.com
  • identity.mparticle.com
  • 02877f9dafd21826d2f5713e0ddb0fd17479a8f5.cws.conviva.com
  • pubads.g.doubleclick.net

Note: Every time you update the Tubi app, you need to add the domains that are being blocked by your ad blocker to make sure that the app works.

Remove and Add Channel

As a response to the Tubi app not working on Roku issue, one of the Community Moderators at Roku shared the following workaround. They insisted players remove the channel, restart the TV, and then reinstall the channel again. Here’s how:

  • To uninstall Tubi, navigate to your TV’s home screen, highlight the application, press the Star* button, and then select Remove channel. Once done, you need to reboot.
  • To do this, go to Settings > System > Power (skip if unavailable) > System restart. Once restarted, go to the Store, search for Tubi, and install it again. Doing so should fix the issue.

Change DNS

The issue seems to be related to the DNS in use, so to fix it, you might have to try changing it. You can change the DNS settings by accessing your router’s network gateway portal. Cloudflare DNS is one of the best choices. If not, you can try using Google DNS settings.

Disable 1 Touch Play

The 1 touch play option on your Roku TV might be the reason why the Tubi application is not working. So, consider disabling it. For this, go to the Settings menu of your Roku TV, and then select the System option. Here, select Control, and then disable the 1 Touch Play option. After this, launch Tubi to check if the issue persists.

Update System

An outdated system can also be the reason why the Tubi application is not loading. So, we suggest that you check whether you are on the latest version and if not, consider updating ASAP.

Contact Support

Now, if none of the workarounds have been of any help, you can try contacting the support of both Tubi and Roku to get some additional assistance. You can click here to access the support page of Tubi, whereas click here to visit the official support page of Roku.

So, now you know all about fixing the Tubi not working on Roku issue. If you find this guide informative, consider visiting Android Gram to get access to a bunch of similar guides that will make your troubleshooting journey easier.
