V Rising is an open-world isometric vampire video game that supports crafting and base building as part of its core mechanics. The game also embraces PVP, enemy base raids, and NPC boss battles to acquire skills/abilities and become stronger. Well, if you are too bored of your current status in the game and want to start fresh, deleting your character is the way to go. In this article, we will show you how to delete your character in V Rising and start the game from the beginning.
At the time of writing this article, there is no option to permanently delete your character in the game. If you wish to start anew, then you can’t delete your old character—at least not entirely. Instead, there are a few workarounds, as we will see in the upcoming sections.
V Rising: How to delete your Character
Delete your Local Saves (For singleplayer offline only)
The method to delete your single-player/offline character is easy-peasy. While in the Main Menu, click on Continue. In the Local Saves list, select all the saved game files that you want to delete. Lastly, hit Delete Save, and you’re done.
Delete Server History Save Files
First, open your File Manager and open the C: drive. Next, look for the View menu in the menu bar at the top of the window. Open the View dropdown, hover over the Show option, and tick “Hidden items”. This makes sure that you can see all the hidden files on your computer’s drive.
Click on the Users folder and enter the folder that has your username. A new window opens. Click on AppData. This folder is hidden, so you need to have checked the Hidden Items option in the View menu. Anyway, open the LocalLow folder, and you will see some folders with the names of games installed on your PC. Search for Stunlock Studios, open the folder named V Rising, and finally open Saves. Delete all the contents of the Saves folder.
Return to the V Rising folder and enter the Settings folder. There will be two JSON files named “ClientSettings” and “ServerHistory”. Delete both of these files. Before closing the window, make sure that the game saves are deleted.
Additionally, head over to the Steam Properties option for V Rising (right-click on the game in Steam, and you should see the Properties option). Under the General tab, untick the “Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for V Rising” option. This prevents Steam from automatically creating saves for the game.
Ask the Server Host to Wipe the Server
V Rising has a neat feature called Server Wipe. This means that you, as a server host, can reset every player’s progress at a specified time interval. That way the gameplay loop stays fresh and players get a chance to start anew.
To see if the server on which you’re playing has this feature enabled, head to the server list and look for an hourglass. Besides the hourglass, you should see the amount of time left before the reset. If there is no hourglass, then the server doesn’t support that feature.
Alter Your Vampire Appearance
If you wish to customize your character’s appearance, you have to unlock and build a mirror. Mirrors can be built only after upgrading your Castle Heart to Level 2. To build a mirror, you need at least 8 Wooden Planks and 4 Copper Ingots. Open the build menu and place the mirror in a desirable location. Interact with the mirror and you can alter your character’s appearance.
Start afresh on a New Server
The other, not so-ideal, way to delete your character and start from the beginning, is to join a fresh server.
