The Valve Index Audio not working issue can be fixed with some simple workarounds. Here are all the details-
1) To fix this issue, launch Steam VR and then minimize it. Now, right-click on the Start menu and select the Device Manager option. After this, head to the High Definition Audio Device tab and uninstall Sound, Video & Game Controllers. Now, select the Scan for Hardware Changes option. Once you are done, the Index Audio device will be reinstalled and the error should be fixed. However, note that you have to do this every time you restart Steam VR or your PC, which can be very annoying.
2) Another workaround that has worked for many is to simply restart Steam VR and replug the HMD. You can also try switching between different ports of your PC to see if the error persists.
