The journey comes to an end after 3 years for the manga crossover fighting game, Jump Force. The sales along with its DLC and virtual will all close their curtains this February 2022. Bandai Namco released the game who first launched it in 2019 across all platforms. It brought multiple characters together featured in the different manga.
The online services will still be operational till August, after which they will be taken offline as well. Japanese video game company Spike Chunsoft developed the game as a competition to other anime fighting games. The company keeps creating and expanding its domain of amazing games. Some namely One Piece: Burning Blood, One-Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
Past of Jump Force
The game initially created a lot of buzz around it. Reviews have characterized the game as a game for like-minded anime fans who are interested in fighting against their favorite characters. But the game could be still played partially and then the offline version will be available.
To bring multiple characters in one place, various licensing is required. Hence, the decision is not that big of a surprise. The response was also quite mixed from the fans of the game. Despite building a lot of hype around the game, the game wasn’t, particularly that engaging. Other anime-induced fighting games proved to be superior to Jump force and eventually, the suffering had to stop. Many fans and players were confident about the game returning for its next version but sadly the wait is over.
Details of Shutdown
The two separate dates of the shutdown created a sense of confusion amongst the players. The game and all its downloadable content were deleted from the store post-February. You can play some features of the game until August 24 if you already own the game. Several in-game features, including multiplayer mode and much of the in-game content, will disappear at that point. Players will no longer be able to access ranked games. To continue playing, select offline modes are available.
Official Announcement
Bandai Namco hasn’t given any valid reason as of now, but just officially announced it through their Twitter page. The Twitter post read ‘Our sincere thanks goes out to all Jump Force players and fans for their support; but with all good things, they must come to an end. Jump Force’s availability through digital purchase in the Americas will end on 2/7/2022 at 5 PM PST.’ There is a rumor in the town that Jump force might release its deluxe edition anytime in the future. But there is no confirmation about it yet.
