Seeing the error code CAT while trying to launch Destiny 2? Well, don’t blame the servers for that. The hotfix 3.3.1.3, which was released on November 9, didn’t have much to add to the game except for a few bug fixes. Hotfix 3.3.1.3 of Destiny 2 is the latest one in the list of updates. As mentioned before, it didn’t bring much with it – a small hotfix. However, it did fix three very commonly reported bugs. Destiny 2 Error code Cat: Fixes & Workarounds
To fix the error code CAT, you will have to update your game to the latest version available at the moment. Here’s how you can trigger the update depending on the platforms you are playing the game on –
PC
If you play Destiny 2 via Steam, you will have to close the Steam app entirely first – exit from the taskbar shortcut as well. Now, open Steam and look in the Downloads section. You will see an update available for the game – click on Download to trigger the process. If you don’t see a pending download, verify integrity of Destiny 2’s game files. To do so, right-click on Destiny 2 in the Library and select Properties. Navigate to Local FIles tab and click on Verify Integrity of Game Files… option. Now, close Steam and open it up to check for the update. If you still don’t see an update, clear download cache from Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache.
If you play Destiny 2 via the Microsoft Store app, open the app and click the … button next to your profile icon, select Downloads and updates, and then the Get updates button. If you play Destiny 2 via the Xbox PC app, do the following to check for updates. Open the Xbox app, then click My Collection button in the top left, then go to Manage Installs in the top-right. You will then see a list of installed Xbox games and what updates are available. Update the game from here to solve the error code CAT.
Consoles
If you play Destiny 2 on PS5 or PS4, here’s how you can manually download the update:
1) Firstly, navigate to the Games tab.
2) Next, hover over Destiny 2.
3) Press Options on the controller.
4) Lastly, select Check For Update.
If you play Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, here’s how you can manually download the update:
1) On the Xbox Home menu, select My Games and Apps.
2) Next, select Manage and then Updates.
3) Lastly, select Destiny 2 and then select Update.
4) Download progress can be viewed in the Queue section of the menu.
