What you need to do exactly is, send a friend request to a player you haven’t added before and ask them to add you and your friend to their friends list. After that, they will have to add you and you friend in the same group. Doing this will let you add your friend to your friends list again. This method is the most relevant on this list and is used by majority of the players.
2) Inviting through the main menu:
When the friends list in Fallout 76 is not working, you might want to come back to the main screen. Click on the ‘Social’ menu from the list and add your friends there. It might not sound as a lot but it works for most players.
