If you want to find a place and you already have the coordinates for it, things are a lot easier. To get the coordinates for a place using Google Maps, first, open the app on the device. Search for the location using its name. If you are on a computer, right-click the location to be prompted with a small box. This box will suggest the longitude and latitude for that location in a decimal format. Basically, you will get the coordinates for the location you just searched on Google Maps.
The required format:
The format in which you enter the coordinates in Google Maps has a recommended format. They also explain the acceptable formats with examples. You can add the coordinates to a place in three formats – 1) Decimal Degrees(DD) 2) Decimal, minutes, and seconds(DMS) 3) Degrees and Decimal Minutes(DDM). Decimal degrees are written as 41.40338, 2.17403. An example for DMS would be 41°24’12.2″N 2°10’26.5″E. And DDM should be written as 41 24.2028, 2 10.4418. If you make sure to carefully follow the given format, you should find the location it represents on Google Maps quickly!
