WhatsApp backup

WhatsApp has successfully replaced all the communication methods that are normally available on a smartphone. Users can make calls, chat, video call, and even share stories on WhatsApp. With so many features all in the same place users tend to replace all the other default apps with WhatsApp. Naturally, its developers decided to build the app to sync with other features on a device. Take Android devices for instance. Users have to create a Google account if they don’t have one and assign it to an email ID. That email ID gets a free 15 GB cloud storage which can be managed using Google Drive. WhatsApp syncs with this Google Drive cloud storage and backs up your chats on it. So in case you have to change your device, your chats will come back with just a click.

Users can select the frequency of the backup and control what gets saved. But, many users are troubled by the fact that their backup process gets stunned at 70% or a random number. The reason why this happens is very straightforward and so is the fix for it. Continue reading the article to find out how to fix it!

Steps to fix Whatsapp Google Drive backup stuck at 70% or X%:
Whatsapp Google Drive

1) Reset your internet connection:

A negative fluctuation in the internet connection is the reason for many problems with a system. It appears as if the app or a particular feature is not working. However, it is the internet that is facing connection errors. This becomes even more prominent for the WhatsApp Google Drive backup error. Make sure you are connected to a strong Wi-Fi connection. The quality of the connection matters more than the speed. If you want to be sure about the connection being absolute, power cycle the router. After the power cycle, connect your mobile and check if the backup resumes. This is the only thing that you can check apart from the various Drive settings which we will get into now.

2) Check your Drive space:

The next most prominent reason for the WhatsApp backup being stuck is the lack of storage space for your Google Drive account. Open Google Drive on your device and take a look at the distribution for the storage space. If all the space is taken up by the WhatsApp backup, just delete the backup saved. Now open WhatsApp and create a new backup. This should fix it. A lot of the users reading this article will also have their Google Drive filled with files from Google Photos. In that case, create a second email ID and dedicate it to your WhatsApp and email backup.
