Fixes for Ring Doorbell 4 not connecting to WiFi:
There are quite a few reasons for the failure of a home network connection. Physical damage, electricity fluctuations, connection fluctuations, and weak signal strength are just some of the examples. By following the list of troubleshooting steps given below, you will be able to fix your problem in no time!
1) Check for external damage:
External damage to the devices responsible for your home internet can lead to problems. Check your router, modem, and all the cables that are going in and out of it. If there is any kind of visible damage to any of the attachments, replace them. After replacing the damaged components, the Ring Doorbell 4 will connect to the WiFi without any issues.
2) Power cycle the router:
Turn off the router and unplug the power cable. Unplug the cable to the modem if needed. If your modem works on batteries. Remove the batteries as well. After that, wait for about 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, plug all the cables back and make sure that all the connections are secure. Turn on your router and reconnect the Ring Doorbell 4 to your WiFi. Enter the password to the network if needed and it should work. You can also try reconnecting your Ring device to your WiFi network. Open the Ring app and tap on the three lines at the top left corner. Go to Devices > select your Ring Doorbell > Device Health > Reconnect to WiFi.
3) Contact your ISP:
If the suggestions given above don’t work, contact your ISP. Explain your problem to them. They’ll let you know if there is a problem with your internet connection. Not only that, your ISP will help you fix it easily! So, give them a call right now and save yourself a lot of time.
4) Check for the presence of other Wi-Fi networks:
On your mobile device, go to Settings > Wifi. Search for other connections. All the WiFi connections that are in the vicinity should show up. It is very unlikely, but check if there are any open WiFi networks near your house. Your Ring Doorbell 4 can get connected to that WiFi and fail to work. Hence, disconnect the Ring Doorbell device and connect it back to your home connection.
5) Possible flaws in your setup:
If there are too many things obstructing the vision between your Ring Doorbell and the WiFi router, it can affect the signal strength. Make sure that the path between them is somewhat clear and that the router is not placed too far from the doorbell. Also, the Ring Doorbell 4 may have problems connecting to your home WiFi if the password or the WiFi name was changed recently. Reconnect the Ring device to the network again. In case your password has special characters like # or !, you will have to get your password changed. Contact your ISP for assistance in this matter. Also, changing the bandwidth can affect the connectivity. There aren’t many Ring devices that are compatible with a 5GHz WiFi signal. But Ring Doorbell 4 can work on a 5GHz connection. However, if you are okay with using a 2.4GHz network, continue doing so.
6) Check the doorbell:
Finally, check if the Ring Doorbell 4 is damaged in any way. Also check if it has sufficient charge. If the battery is too low, charge it first and then check if it connects to the WiFi.
