Escape From Tarkov keeps releasing small patches to make the gaming experience better for fans. Fixing minor bugs and improvements on the UI is what the game’s patches are focusing on. The initiative is good, as regular updates are a sign that developers care about bug reports. However, what if the downloading process of such patches has a bug?
According to a few players on the Reddit forum, they have been facing an error while trying to download the game’s updates. If you are facing the same, read this article to know more.
Escape From Tarkov: Checksum Error 108003
Apparently, users are facing something called the Checksum Error with a code 108003. Demonstrating one of the users’ distress, the error was displayed upon downloading a small patch. The user tried to initial file repair, but it didn’t solve the problem. Trying to download the update while keeping a VPN active also gave out the same error.
Checksum errors usually point to modified and corrupted download files. So, there isn’t any way for regular users to figure out what went wrong. However, there are fixes that may temporarily help you. We are listing those for you.
First Method
- Open this directory from your game files on PC.
localappdata%\Battlestate Games\BsgLauncher\Logs
- Open up the Logs using any editor of your choice and look for snippets like:

to C:\Program Files (x86)\BsgLauncher\Temp\(live)EftClientDistr.0.12.11.1.13160.distr
- Copy the CDN link and paste it into your browser URL space. The download will happen automatically.
- After downloading the files, cut and paste the files on the previous, correct directory.
You can start up the game after this without any errors. So, you are downloading the updates yourself and pasting the files to the Logs, which the Launcher was supposed to do.
You can ask your friend to send you the working files as a .zip file on mail, and you can download those to paste them into the directory. This will also work like the mentioned method.
Second Method
Here’s another fix you can try.
- Delete the launcher and the game.
- Run the launcher setup as administrator
- If it asks to download Microsoft C++ visual 20XX, download it.
- If not, delete one of the old Microsoft C++.
- Rerun the setup as administrator.
- It should ask you to download the Microsoft C++ visual 20XX
- Re-download the game.
The above method also worked for many.
But, the issue was not fixed entirely. Whenever the game has updates to download, the error keeps popping up, and users have to download updates themselves to play the game. This is not feasible.
