Metal is one of the most used resources in Ark. You need it for everything, from crafting structures to weapons to sometimes even decorations. This resource is so useful that it can single-handedly get you from early to mid-game with just a few crafts (of equipment and weapons). Metal can be found in a variety of locations in ASA. Similar to Ark Survival Evolved, this in-game resource is found in abundance, but you will need to head over to the right area to look for it.
1). Mountain located near the Southern Beaches (80.2, 46.3)
This Mountain is hidden away behind the beaches of the south of The Island map. It is located roughly at (80.2, 46.3) on the map and this is a mountain with a lot of metal. It is also easy to access this metal since there is little danger around here (Carnos and Raptors).
2). A mountain in the middle of the north of the map (33.9, 60.7)
This mountain is a little harder to get to since it is quite far to the North. It is located at roughly (33.9, 60.7) on the map. Since it is this far north, it is also close to the snowy areas in the game. This makes the weather here unpredictable and challenging. In addition to this, the metal here is concentrated on the walls of the mountain so you will need to be creative to get it. It is recommended to head over to this location with a flyer with a lot of weight that can hold this metal for you.
3). Another mountain in the north-east of the map (31.5, 82.2)
This mountain is located at the very northeast corner of the map. Located at about (31.5, 82.2), there is a lot of metal here. It is very rich in metal, and there is a lot, but it is all spread out. There are also some dangerous creatures here, like Carnos and Rexes. In addition to this, since you need to cross the swamps (if you travel by land), this is a harder mountain to get to.
4). Redwoods Mountain
This is located in the middle of the Redwoods. Getting here will be a nightmare if you do not have a flyer. There will be all kinds of dangerous creatures here, including (possible) gigas, spinos, rexes, thylacoleos, and microraptors, to name a few. All of them can kill you in seconds. 5). The Volcano
This was the best spot for metal in ASE and continues to hold the crown for ASA as well. There are plenty of rich and smaller metal veins here. You can bring an army of animals to harvest the metal here, and still, there will be some left to spare. However, this location is a bit dangerous. There is always the risk of falling into the volcano itself. There are lots of rexes and gigas, saber-tooth tigers, argents, and a lot of other aggressive fauna as well. If you have good creature tames that can fight and defend your gathering dinos, this is the place for you and your metal needs.
