Ayaneo 2 vs Steam Deck: Which is better to buy

Price is an important factor to consider when buying any device, and the Ayaneo 2 and Steam Deck are no exception. The Steam Deck prices at $399 for the 64GB eMMC internal storage option, $529 for the 256GB NVMe SSD internal storage model, and $649 for the 512GB NVMe SSD model. On the other hand, the Ayaneo 2 is available in three different configurations: the Ayaneo 2 16G+512GB, priced at roughly $1,099, the Ayaneo 2 16G+1TB priced at $1,299, and the Ayaneo 2 32G+1TB priced at approximately $1499.

The Steam Deck is more affordable than the Ayaneo 2, especially for the base model. However, it is important to note that the Ayaneo 2 offers more powerful hardware specifications than the Steam Deck. The Ayaneo 2 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 6800U chip, while the Steam Deck features a semi-custom AMD APU code-named “Aerith.”

Storage and display

In terms of storage, the Ayaneo 2 offers up to 2TB of NVMe SSD storage, while the Steam Deck maxes out at 512GB of NVMe SSD storage. However, the Steam Deck does come with a microSD slot for expandable storage, which the Ayaneo 2 lacks. The display is an important consideration when buying a handheld gaming device, and both the Ayaneo 2 and Steam Deck offer 7-inch displays. The Ayaneo 2 features a 1200p IPS display, while the Steam Deck offers a 1280 × 800 Touchscreen IPS LCD. Both displays have a 60Hz refresh rate, but the Ayaneo 2 boasts a higher resolution.

Processor and connectivity

The Ayaneo 2 has the edge in graphics performance over the Steam Deck due to its superior hardware. In terms of connectivity, both devices offer USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0, but the Ayaneo 2 has an advantage with Wi-Fi 6, while the Steam Deck only offers Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. The Ayaneo 2 also has a larger battery capacity than the Steam Deck, with a 50.25 Wh Lithium-ion battery, compared to the Steam Deck’s 40 Wh Lithium-ion battery.

OS and other specs

One advantage of the Steam Deck is its docking station, which allows it to be connected to an external display for a more immersive gaming experience. The docking station supports up to 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz. The Ayaneo 2 does not come with a docking station. In terms of operating systems, the Ayaneo 2 runs Windows 11, which means it can run all Windows-compatible games and applications. The Steam Deck, on the other hand, runs SteamOS, which is a Linux-based operating system that is optimized for gaming. While the Steam Deck is designed to run games from the Steam library, it is also possible to install Windows on the device, though this would require some technical know-how and may not be suitable for everyone.

Conclusion

Overall, Ayaneo 2 is technically superior to Steam Deck in terms of specifications. So, which device should you choose? Ultimately, it depends on your preferences and needs. If you are looking for a device that can run all Windows-compatible games and applications and has more storage options, then the Ayaneo 2 may be the better choice for you. However, if you are a fan of the Steam library and prefer a Linux-based operating system optimized for gaming, then the Steam Deck may be the better option.

As for us, we suggest you go for Ayaneo 2 by expanding your budget as it will give you way better performance than Steam Deck. On this note, do not forget to visit Androidgram for the latest updates in the world of tech and gaming.
