Can’t use a particular program on your computer due to ‘bad image error’? Fortunately, there are a few methods to fix this issue on Windows 11 PC. Take a look at the article below to solve the bad image error on Windows 11.
The bad image error on your computer will, most of the time, be associated with one particular program. It usually occurs when the system is unable to launch a particular application. This may happen due to corrupted files or any other hindrances. Well, a lot of reports have been received from Windows 11 users, who seem to be facing this error when they are trying to access Microsoft Teams from the taskbar. Microsoft Teams came bundled with the Windows 11 update, which could be the possible explanation behind file corruption. But it is not just Microsoft Teams. Any software which is trying to run corrupted files may induce a bad image error on your Windows 11 PC.
Apart from the above, outdated software or incompatible updates can be the reason too. Also, try to recall if you had downloaded any suspicious files on your PC recently. Once you have pinpointed a few possible causes, try the following fixes or workarounds to get rid of this notorious error once and for all.
Fixes for ‘Bad image error’ on Windows 11:
1) Uninstall and reinstall the troublesome program:
Uninstall the app or the program that has been showing this error. Reinstallation of the program will mean re-downloading the app files again. This will obviously fix any corrupted files. Plus, it is possible that you have downloaded a version of the app which is not compatible with your hardware. Make sure you download the correct version of the application from its official website.
To uninstall a program, go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘Apps’ from the list on the left of the screen. In the search box under ‘Apps list’, type in the name of the app showing you the error. When the app shows up, click on the three dots at the right end and select ‘Uninstall’.
I would also recommend you to uninstall ‘Microsoft Teams’. Search for MS Teams in the Add or remove programs list. Uninstall it and restart your computer. Reinstall it from the official Microsoft website. Now, you shouldn’t face any problems related to this program. If you still get a bad image error, try the next method.

2) Uninstall recent Windows update:
OS updates are released in order to solve certain issues with performance and/or bugs with the system. But, with newer versions of OS coming in, hardware compatibility may become an issue. To make sure that a Windows update is not the reason behind the bad image error, try uninstalling the recent update that was made to the system and checking whether the issue persists.
To do that go to Settings > Windows update > Update history > Uninstall updates. You will see a list of all the updates installed on your system recently. Keep scrolling down until you reach the updates made to the Windows OS. Click on the most recent update and select ‘Uninstall’. The uninstall option will be near the top of that window. After you uninstall the recent update, restart your computer. This may solve the bad image error on your Windows 11 PC.
3) SFC scan:
An SFC scan is easy to perform and will find and repair any corrupted files on your system. To perform an SFC scan, type ‘CMD’ in the search box on the taskbar. Then, run the command prompt as an administrator on your device. When the command prompt window pops up, type in “SFC /scannow”. This will start a scan on your device for suspicious and corrupted files. Once, the scan is complete, restart your computer and see if the bad image error has resolved on your Windows 11 PC.
