Baldur’s Gate 3 has lots and lots of hidden items that can be obtained. Some can be simply found by participating in or completing quests, whether they be the main or side quests. While others require a bit of trickery to perform. While basic or rare items can be found pretty easily once you progress enough, you will surely crave legendary items. Well, most of them are hidden so well that no sane person can ever reach them without a little help. One of those legendary items in BG3 is the Gloves of Soul Catching.
This is a very rare and legendary glove that has insane stats. It grants you 1–10 force damage when dealing damage while unarmed. Also, you will regain 10 hit points with each successful hit when unarmed. So, by now, you must have an idea of how useful this item can be. So, are you wondering how to get it? Well, it is a bit tricky, but nothing that can’t be accomplished. That said, here’s how to find it in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) Gloves of Soul Catching: How to get & find
The way to unlock it is a bit tricky. It requires you to follow a quest and also do it adequately. If any of the steps are missed, the gloves won’t be unlocked, and you may find yourself running in a circle. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Speak with Raphael
He’s the core of this quest. Go to the Sharess’s Caress in Wyrm’s Crossing. This is a brothel, and there you can interact with the core character. He will ask you to help him, and you must accept the contract. This will grant you the Orphic Hammer as a reward.
The Diabolist Helsik
Now you must infiltrate the House of Hope. But before that, finding the pass to the city and an NPC named Helsik is important. This NPC is quite important for this step. Once you have the pass, go to the Lower City and head east from the Basilisk Gate. Helsik can be found in a building called Devil’s Fee.
The Door to Hell
Now simply interact with Helsik and then pass the Arcana check and Perception check. After passing that, you can ask her to open the portal to the House of Hope. But she will ask you for payment, which is 20,000 gold. That’s huge, right? But you can also persuade her to open the portal for free. She will agree, but she will ask you to bring the Gauntlet of Hill Giant Strength. If you don’t want to do this, you can also intimidate her, and she will lower the price by 10,000 gold. We will recommend retrieving the item since that will save money, which is important.
House of Hope
After getting the item, she will give you materials that can be used to open a portal. To create the portal, simply follow these steps:
- Place the skull where the point looks like a star or triangle.
- Place the Coin of Mammon on the exact right side of the skull.
- Next, follow the same path and place a diamond after skipping a point next to the skull.
- Then, at the next point, place the incense.
- After this, place the Infernal Marble in the center.
Once you reach the House of Hope, the ghost of Hope will confront you, following which you must accept her request to rescue her from prison. Now, you must head to these coordinates: X = -6452 and Y = 2911. There, you will find the prison holding Hope after crossing a small opening. Defeat the enemies there, and then you will see two big red crystals. Use the Orphic hammer to break these crystals, and Hope will be freed.
Now comes one of the deadliest boss fights ever. After freeing Hope, you will need to head where Raphael is (Foyer of the House of Hope). Interacting with him will trigger a boss fight. Make sure that your party is maxed out, or you will lose. Raphael is a level 12 boss who has 666 HP. But that’s not all. He also has guards surrounding him. So, the fight is going to be very long and dangerous. Meanwhile, your main objective is to defeat him while also making sure Hope doesn’t die. After defeating him, talk with Hope, and she will grant you the Gloves of Soul Catching.
