Unable to play a match of Battlefield 2042? Are you stuck at the “Waiting for players” screen? Well, from a glance, it looks like there aren’t enough players on the server. It is difficult to ignore a bug if it is not letting players play the game at least. Looking for a working fix to this issue? Well, the developers haven’t acknowledged the issue so far. So, there is no official fix available as of now. But, you can perform a tweak to get rid of the matchmaking issue in Battlefield 2042. Keep reading this article to know more.
Battlefield 2042 players stuck at ‘waiting for players’ match screen
Every All out warfare match i tried to join from 12pm AEDT Australia time onwards hangs stuck after a game is found on the screen ‘waiting for players’. I have found threads similar on reddit and others in the squad with me all drop out and we never progress to the match. This happens with Hazard Zone as well so i assume it’s a server issue. Single/Co-op game with 1 other friend in party works with no issues and Portal servers are fine too.
Reports suggest that only the All Out Warfare and Hazard Zone modes are affected. A few reports suggested issues with all the modes (Conquest and Breakthrough included) except Portal. Peeps trying to start a Warfare or a Hazard Zone match are the ones facing a major matchmaking issue. Most reports are from the Oceania region – so, it may be due to the lack of players in that particular server. As mentioned earlier, it is common to face a matchmaking issue during launch. And, we are still in the Early Access phase of Battlefield 2042. The official launch is still a week ahead of now, so we may have to endure some matchmaking issues until then. If you had to cancel matchmaking after waiting for a long time, try starting a new match. You may find a match this time.

I guess I’m not the only one. Don’t want to do crossplay because there’s zero advantages against pc players. But if I disable it, the match never starts.
Make sure you enable the crossplay feature. Again, we know that PC players will not want to matchmake with console players and vice versa. But, several reports suggest that enabling the crossplay feature has eliminated the matchmaking issue in Battlefield 2042. So, it is indeed a lack of players that may be causing the problem. We can only hope that more players join the base on November 19 (the official release date). Till then, we suggest playing Battlefield 2042 with the crossplay feature enabled to eliminate the matchmaking issue.
