As the supposedly “first-ever ultra-realistic” FPS game, Bodycam made its debut on June 8, 2024, many curious players flocked in to check out what the hype was all about. All in all, the game is somewhat of a treat to the eyes, but it has its issues. From random crashes to the Quick Play mode not working as intended, the list of issues doesn’t stop here. In fact, an issue that has been troubling players since the game’s initial release is the LowLevelFatalError/DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error. If you too are encountering the same issue, you have landed on the right page, as we have shared some effective workarounds to get rid of it for good.
The LowLevelFatalError/DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG can occur due to a variety of reasons, the primary one being the version of DirectX used. Anyway, encountering this issue results in the following message popping up upon launching the game:
LowLevelFatalError [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Util.cpp] [Line: 873]
CurrentQueue.Fence.D3DFence->GetCompletedValue() failed
at D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\D3D12RHI\Private\D3D12Submission.cpp:939
with error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED with Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
So, it is obvious that you won’t be able to access the game without fixing this issue. That said, continue reading until the end for all potential fixes to the problem.

Bodycam LowLevelFatalError/DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG Error: Is there any fix yet
As of now, there isn’t any acknowledgment from the developers regarding this issue. So, expecting an official fix for the issue is not the right way to go. What you can do is try the following workarounds:
1) Restart
Before trying any complex workarounds, consider doing a simple restart of your PC. After this, launch the game, and then check if the issue persists.
2) Change in-game settings parameters via Config file
Steam user Thunder was able to get rid of the problem by editing the config file of the game. To try this workaround, follow the given steps:
- Open File Explorer, and head over to this directory: “C:\Users\”{Your Username folder}\AppData\Local\Bodycam\Saved\SaveGames”.
- Here, open the SystemConfig folder.
- Now, open the .json file in this folder using Notepad and change the parameters as listed:
- UpscaleQuality”:3
“DLSS”:”Off”,”DLSS_FrameGeneration”:0,”DLSS
Reflex”:0,”FSR2″:”Off”,”FSRFrameGeneration”:”
0″
ShadingQuality”:1,”GraphicsQualityPreset”:2
Globallluminiation Quality”:1
“Shadow”:1
TextureQuality”:1
VisualEffectQuality”:2
‘,”LensFlareQuality”:”1
SSRQuality”:”2
BloomQuality”:”3
- UpscaleQuality”:3
- Once done, save the changes and then launch the game. Doing so might fix the issue for good.
3) Add Launch Options
As mentioned earlier, this issue primarily occurs due to the DirectX version in use. So, what you can do is launch the game using DirectX 11. For this, open Steam, go to Library, and right-click on Bodycam. Now, select Properties, and in the General tab, enter the following command in the Launch Options textbox: “-d3d11”. After this, launch the game and this should fix the issue.
4) Delete the D3D12Core.dll file
For this workaround, head over to the game’s installation directory and then follow this path: Bodycam > Bodycam > Binaries > Win64 > D3D12. Here, find the D3D12Core.dll file, and delete it. Once done, launch the game, and you will be able to launch the game.
5) Reinstall
If none of the workarounds are of use, then the final workaround worth trying is reinstalling the game. However, a simple reinstallation won’t do the trick. First, you need to uninstall the game, and then, delete all the residual files in the game installation directory. After this, reinstall the game and then check if the issue persists.
