Fix Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers on Windows 11
Here’s all you need to fix broken audio on your Windows 11 PC: Update your audio drivers. If you already know how to update your drivers, go ahead and get your speakers up and running. However, if you are unaware, don’t worry. We will guide you through the entire process. Note that you may have to download drivers from the manufacturer’s website if the Device Manager update methods don’t work. So, follow the tips step-by-step to troubleshoot the issue:
1) Update High Definition Audio Device Driver.
Open the Windows Start Menu and search for the Device Manager app. Open the Device Manager and look for the Sound, video, and game controllers expandable list. Expand it and locate High Definition Audio Device – right-click on it and select Update driver. In the next window, select the Browse my computer for drivers option and then the Let me pick from the list of available drivers on my computer option. You will see a list of available device drivers – if you don’t, make sure you check the box beside Show compatible hardware. Select High Definition Audio Device > Next > Yes. Restart your computer once the update completes to fix audio issues on your Windows 11 PC. And, things should be working fine after that!
2) If updating the High Definition Audio Device didn’t work, try this.
Open the Device Manager and locate High Definition Audio Device under the expandable list like the previous step – right-click on it and select Update driver. In the next window, select the Browse my computer for drivers option and then the Let me pick from the list of available drivers on my computer option. You will see a list of available device drivers – if you don’t, make sure you check the box beside Show compatible hardware. Select Realtek High Definition Audio > Next > Yes. Restart your computer once the update completes. This should fix broken audio on your Windows 11 PC.

3) If none of the above works, you will need to download the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
To do so, you will need to know the exact model number of your laptop. If you are using a desktop, you will need to know the exact model number of your PC’s motherboard. To know your motherboard’s model number, open the Command Prompt window – type “wmic baseboard get” and hit the Enter key. Locate your motherboard’s model number. Use your laptop’s or your motherboard’s model number to find the correct audio drivers on the manufacturer’s website.
Note: Installing incorrect drivers can lead to more issues! So, make sure you download the correct ones.
