How to invite and play with friends in Dota 2?
Via Steam
1) Launch Steam.
2) Hover your cursor on your Steam username.
3) From the drop-down list, select the Friends option.
4) You can now select the Add a friend option and type in your friend’s steam ID to send a request.
5) Once your friend accepts your request, he/she will appear in your Dota 2 friend list [bottom-left].
6) You can then open his/her profile and select the Invite to Party option to invite them to your team.
Friend ID
You can ask your friend for his/her Friend/Steam ID. Once you have the ID, click on the Add Friend icon in the bottom-left of the lobby. Type in the ID and send the request. If your friend accepts your request, he/she will appear in your list and you can then open their profile to send them an invite to your party.
