The Kasa smart bulbs are dimmable and can be controlled remotely as long as the device and the Kasa app have a proper connection to the internet. But that hasn’t been so easy lately. The Kasa smart bulb users are running into an issue where the bulb fails to connect to the wifi network. More and more users are subjected to the problem every day. So to save you some time, here are all the troubleshooting steps that are known to fix the issue and are worth trying. Read through them carefully and use them to fix the problem for yourself.

Power cycle the bulb:

This step is to reset the bulb. To reset the bulb, they have to be power cycled a few times. Power cycle your bulbs around 10 times. It is necessary to power cycle the bulb ten times because it takes a different number of power cycles to reset different Kasa bulbs. And power cycling it ten times will reset any Kasa Bulb irrespective of the model. You should be able to use the button that powers the bulb to do so. A common method recommended by Kasa is turning off the switch that powers the bulb and then flipping the switch on and off 3 times Once the bulb is reset, try connecting it to your wifi network. It should work without a problem.

Manually add its IP address:

Adding the IP address for the Kasa Smart Bulb to your network can help fix the problem. Contact your ISP for assistance if you don’t have access to the admin page for your network. If you want to know what IP address should be added to your network to register the Kasa Smart Bulb,

Find a different device:

The possibility of Tp-link discontinuing the Kasa range of devices is very high. With the Tapo range of devices, it is possible that Tp-link may gradually drop its support for Kasa completely. This could be a huge change for many individuals since a lot of people trust the Kasa range of devices. But it is better to find a replacement device than to lose access to all of your automation efforts. It is difficult to tell you can exact time when the Kasa devices might be discontinued. This may or may not happen. So make sure to keep yourself updated about the situation through various online community forums for Kasa.
