We know that 60 FPS is all that most players need to get a good gaming experience. But this holds true mostly in single-player games. When it comes to multiplayer games, the higher the FPS, the smoother the experience, and the lower is your response time. All these contribute to winning games, and this is also the same for Marvel Rivals. If you have a good PC with a high-end CPU and GPU combination, of course, you’d want the game to run at a higher FPS, considering that you have a monitor with a high refresh rate. But what if, despite meeting all the requirements, the game just runs at 60 FPS? If you are encountering this issue, know that you aren’t the only one facing it. In this guide, we have shared a bunch of workarounds for you to try and fix this problem for good. So, without further ado, let’s get right into the details.

To get good FPS in Marvel Rivals, you will need a decent PC with at least an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD RX 580 / Intel Arc A380 GPU. Even with these specs, you can only get more than 60 FPS if you lower the in-game graphics settings. Suppose you did all these, but even then the game’s FPS is stuck at 60. Then, it is an issue. Here’s how to fix it.

Disable VSync

The very first thing that you need to disable is an in-game option called VSync. This setting makes the game run at an FPS that matches your monitor’s refresh rate. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, then the game will try and match that. But if the game isn’t able to match it, then it will switch to 60 FPS by default. So, disabling VSync is necessary. To do this, open Marvel Rivals, go to Settings, and then select the Video tab. Here, find the VSync option and make sure to turn it off. Save the changes and then check whether the game runs at a higher FPS now.

Change Display mode

If disabling VSync didn’t fix the issue, try tweaking the Display mode setting in the same Video tab. Switch to Borderless Windowed or Fullscreen and then check whether the issue persists.

Disable Frame Generation

In the same Video tab, there will be a Frame Generation option. While enabling it means that you will get more FPS, this feature introduces a lot of input lag, hampering your response time. It can also cause the game to run at 60 FPS so consider disabling it as well.

Limit Frame Rate

In the Video tab, you should be able to find the Limit Frame Rate option. Enable it, and then set the limit as 150. Save the changes and then check whether the in-game FPS increases.

Restart Steam

For this workaround, exit out of the game, and then close Steam. Make sure it is not running in the background. After this, launch Steam again and then Marvel Rivals to check whether the FPS cap is still present.

Check GPU Application

If you are using Nvidia GeForce Experience or AMD Adrenaline, open those applications and then check whether there are any optimization settings enabled that are causing this FPS lock issue in Marvel Rivals. If the game is detected by these applications, make sure to disable optimized settings.

Nvidia Control Panel

If you have an Nvidia GPU, this workaround is for you. Open the Nvidia Control Panel and then select Manage 3D Settings. Now, head over to the Program Settings tab, and then select Marvel Rivals. Next, select the dedicated Nvidia GPU. After this, in the settings menu, scroll down until you find the Power Management option. Here, select the Prefer Consistent Performance option. Save the changes and then launch the game to check whether the issue persists.

Reinstall

If the game is still locked at 60 FPS, then consider reinstalling it. Make sure that you do so on an SSD for faster load times. Also, while launching the game, you can try enabling the Experimental Shader Feature to check whether this fixes the FPS issue.

With that said, we hope that at least one of these workarounds helped you fix the issue for good. If it did, consider visiting Android Gram for more such interesting guides on all things gaming.
