Fishing is one of the activities you will need to perform in the game to complete rewarding quests. New World Fishing Hotspot not working for some players: Is there any fix yet?
The secret fishing hotspot in Weaver’s Fen appears on screen, but when fishing in it it grants no bonus and it doesn’t tell that you have landed in it. My fishing level is 71.
Fishing hotspots can be located inside of a Hotspot location in New World. They are special fishing locations – chances of catching uncommon, rare, or legendary fishes are high in hotspots. However, according to players, the fishing hotspots are broken/bugged. According to reports, players are unable to catch fish or receive bonuses related to the activity. As reports regarding the bug poured in, some players suggested checking whether the fishing hotspot was exhausted. If exhausted, players will not see fish jumping in the water. If you see fish jumping, you should be able to fish in the hotspot. Here’s what a player had to say –
Hi, the node has been exhausted. if no fish are jumping then that means the hot spot isnt active at that time. come back in 30 min to an hour to that location.
However, many players reported not being able to fish even if the hotspots were not exhausted. So, how can we fix this problem? Turns out that the hotspot indicator in New World is completely bugged. So, when you are in a fishing hotspot, the game will not show you an animation regarding the same. Basically, you may see “Depleted” even when the hotspot has been replenished.
Is there a fix yet?
Hotspots are broken for me. The animation in the water never changes to tell me that the fish have respawned. Its stuck in the “depleted” animation. Doesn’t matter how long I wait, the animation will not change.
Then I see people popping up next to me and they start fishing. I join them and sure enough I get tons of rare fish and chests, which means the spot is working, but the animation doesn’t refresh for me.
Relogging didn’t fix it either
So, we can figure that the fishing hotspots work fine mechanically. But, the indicators are bugged. Hence, players are getting confused and resorting to random practices. In the process, some of the players have figured out a couple of workarounds. However, as of December 2021, this bug stands addressed. The developers have addressed the bugged fishing hotspot indicator in update 1.0.5.
