Apart from being one of the most well known VR devices, Oculus Quest 2 is also known for its notorious errors and compatibility issues. There are many problems with the headset that need to be addressed. However, the problem in focus for this post is not directed towards the Oculus Quest 2 headset. Many Oculus users have reported issues with installing its companion program on their computer. The ‘not enough space’ error is preventing many users from installing the program. Continue reading the article to know if you can fix it at all!
Reason for the error:
The error is due to the configuration of the hard disk on your computer. Disks that are configured as dynamic type and in NTFS format are the most susceptible to this error. And the saddest part is, almost all computers have their disks configured in this manner. This states that the problem is clearly at Quest’s end. Having to configure your disks altogether to install a program does not sit well. But, there aren’t many options left after you have already bought the VR set. Hence, read the reconfiguration steps for your disks given below and get rid of the Oculus quest 2 not enough space error.
There are two ways by which you can go about solving this error. One of those techniques involves having to back up all the data that you have on your disk. Since you will have to change your disk type from dynamic to basic, you will have to back up all the disk data, delete the data from the disk, convert it to the required type and put back all the data. This process is very time consuming and a lot can go wrong. Hence, I won’t even bother suggesting you this fix. Instead of deleting and downloading all of your data just for the sake of using your Oculus quest 2, try the solution given below.
Fix for Oculus quest 2 not enough space error:
This (rather easy) step, involves creating a virtual disk to install the Oculus quest 2 software. But before we begin, we would like to mention and thank the thedailydeveloper.com for posting this successful fix. Now, let’s get onto the fix!
On your Windows computer, right click the start button and select ‘Disk management’. In the new window that pops up, select ‘Action’ and then click on ‘Create VHD’. Click on Browse and select a space in the C drive. Or you can just select a space where you usually install your programs. Save the file as ‘Oculus disk’. In the Size dialog box, type 20 and click on OK to save the changes.
Now, navigate and select Initialize disk. Click OK to confirm the creation of the new disk space. Right-click the space under the black bar of the newly formed disk, and select New Simple Volume. This will trigger the New simple Volume Wizard. Follow the prompts in the window to ultimately complete the creation of this new disk space. Now, simply shift the installer file for Oculus to this space and install the program. You won’t receive the not enough space error pop up when installing Oculus this time.
