PS app notifications

PS app added a feature a few years back that was supposed to push notifications meant for the console, on your mobile. The main agenda of this feature is pretty clear. Players get to receive notifications from the PlayStation network even if they are offline. This feature can be very useful if you think about it. However, for it to be useful, the PS app on your mobile phone should successfully push notifications on your device. Because not being able to see the notifications makes the app completely useless, as players can automatically see the notifications when they turn on their console.

Also, some players were unhappy about how the notifications only get pushed when they meet certain requirements. For example, a PS app user explained how they were unable to get the notifications for PS4. But switching to their PS5 account solved the problem. This too is not a favorable scenario. Whatever your problem might be with the PS app and its notifications, try these troubleshooting methods to fix it all!

Fix for PS app notifications not working:
PS app notifications

1) Allow notifications:

Allowing notifications for different applications fall under the privacy settings. If you have unknowingly changed the privacy settings on your device, notifications for certain apps can be blocked. Most of the system apps are free from these restrictions. However, that does not apply to the PS app. Just go to the device settings and search for ‘Notifications’ in the search bar, at the top of your screen. In the notifications list, look for the PS app and allow all notifications for it. This should allow it to push notifications on your device.

2) Clear app cache:

If the notifications setting was not the problem, clear the cache files for the app. Android phone users can tap and hold the app icon and select clear cache. iOS users can do the same by going to Settings > General > Storage > Offload app. After this observe the app to see if the notifications are being pushed.

3) Restart device:

This is a step you can do irrespective of whether the problem is solved or not. Consider this step as a preventive measure. A system glitch is not easily recognizable, but a restart can automatically solve this problem. After restarting your device, everything should fall into place, showing you the notifications from the PS app.

4) Reinstall app:

If none of the above-mentioned steps fixed the issue, uninstall the app from your device. Before reinstalling it, restart your device again. Now go to the apps store and install the PS app. Perform all the setup formalities and the notifications should be flowing in.
