Playing old PS3 games on a new PC setup with high resolution and a high frame rate is one of the biggest reasons to opt for the RPCS3 emulator. However, while some games may offer 60FPS by just tweaking some settings in RPCS3, others demand special patches to unlock 60FPS gameplay. Therefore, we will be discussing how to apply patches in the RPCS3 emulator to unlock 60fps gameplay along with the emulator settings to upscale the frame rates and resolution easily.

RPCS3 60fps Patch: How to Apply Patches to Unlock 60fps Gameplay
Before you get the patch of a game to unlock 60 FPS, you can set the framerate of games to 60 FPS from general settings. Here’s how-
- The first thing that you need to do is open RPCS3.
- After this, you will have to go to the “Configuration” tab.
- Now, under the “GPU” tab, go to the Framerate option.
- From the options, choose “60FPS” as the limit.
- Now, under the Renderer settings, you will have to select “Vulcan”. This is because the emulator is very powerful. This means OpenGL alone won’t be able to handle it. Therefore, you will have to set it to Vulcan.
- Once you have set the frame limit to 60FPS, you can tweak other settings that will improve the graphics of the game. For starters, you can play the games by upscaling their resolution. If you want to upscale the resolution of PS3 games to 4k, you will have to look out for the option that says “Resolution Scale”.
- If you want to play the games at 4k resolution, you will have to move the slider to 400%.
- Now that you have set the resolution scale, you will have to set the Resolution Scale Threshold to ensure that the scaling is done precisely. You will have to set the “Resolution Scale Threshold” to 64 x 64 by moving the slider.
However, this is a setting that will facilitate 60FPS and 4K gameplay for selected games. If you want to implement a patch, you will have to follow these steps further:
1) The first thing that you will be needing is an EU or US disc version of the game. However, it has to be a disc version, otherwise, the patch won’t work.
2) The second thing that you will have to do is right-click on the game that you want to patch. Now, click on “Configure” so that you can create a custom config of the game.
- From there, under the CPU tab set the SPU block size to “Safe”.
- Now, go to the GPU tab, and enable “Write color buffers”. After that, turn off MT RSX.
- Under the Advanced tab, set the Clocks Scale to 200 and set the Vblank Rate to 120.
- Now, save these settings.
3) After this, you will have to download the 60FPS patch from any source and move it to the RPCS3 folder. On the contrary, if you are using Linux, then place it to ~/.config/rpcs3/.
4) Lastly, you will have to right-click on the game that you are patching again. From there, you will have to select “Open custom config folder”. Now, you will have to open the config file. Once you open it, you will have to scroll to the bottom of the file. From here, you will have to type the following text:
Log: {sceNp: Fatal}
5) Now, save the changes and exit. After this, launch the game, and check if it is running in 60FPS.
By following these steps, you should unlock 60FPS. We hope this guide was useful. Do not forget to visit Androidgram for the latest updates in the world of tech and gaming.
