In games, there are two primary things that have the ability to drastically enhance the experience. First is the visuals, and the second is sound. Without in-game audio or sound, you will not enjoy watching a bunch of pixels on your screen changing shape for hours. A game with poor graphics is still playable if it has audio; however, the opposite isn’t the same. Without sound, you won’t enjoy a single minute in the virtual world of gaming. That brings us to the topic of this guide. Several players have reported that they are unable to hear anything in Skin Deep besides when their character is breathing while in space and when their cursor is hovering over buttons. This, of course, is an immersion breaker, so if you are encountering the same issue, this is just the guide you need.
While the developers did respond to this issue, stating the following:
Hi, thanks for writing this report. To clarify — when this was happening, was the sound still playing correctly but just generally “very quiet”? As in, it was still happening but was very difficult to hear?
We suspect this is possibly related to the game’s slow-motion state, when you throw an item or get spotted by an enemy.
It was more of an inquiry of the issue rather than an acknowledgment that it exists. So, for now, it’s best to not expect an official fix, as there is no confirmation regarding the same. Anyway, there are a few workarounds worth trying, which we have shared below.

Skin Deep Sound/Audio Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
Create Autosave and load it after restarting
If you have loaded a save and the in-game audio is not working, initiate an autosave by restarting the level you are currently on. Now, quit the game and then launch it. After this, load the autosave instead of a manual save. Now, the in-game audio should be back. You can create manual saves from now on and then sound issue shouldn’t bother you anymore.
Manual Save workaround
If you have progressed a level far enough and now you don’t want to start the level again, then what you can do is continue progressing in the save without sound and rescue a cat. Doing so fixed the issue for this player, so it might be worth trying out.
Switch output devices
If you are using a headphone to listen to in-game audio, consider disconnecting it and changing the output device. You can use speakers for the same. Switching between multiple output devices should fix the issue.
Restart PC
Finally, you can try a full system restart if none of the above workarounds have been of any help. In addition to this, try the Steam File Verification Check. How? Open Steam, go to Library, and then right-click on Skin Deep. Now, select Properties, and then in the Installed Files tab, select the Verify Integrity of Game Files option. After the scan is complete, launch the game to check whether the issue persists.
With that said, we hope that with the help of these workarounds, you are able to fix the sound/audio not working issue in Skin Deep. If you find this guide helpful, consider visiting Android Gram daily for more such interesting guides.
