Communication is the key in any workplace. Everyone belonging to a team has to communicate with one another to be coordinated. However, there aren’t many social apps that are designed in a way that perfectly fits the office environment. Slack is one of those few apps where users can easily interact with their co-workers and keep them up to date about relevant information.
The app is designed in a way that makes the interactions safe and void of any breach. Since the majority of users interacting on the platform are office employees, a lot of sensitive information will be exchanged. Hence, safety is the top priority. But this topic is not focused on the various security aspects of the app. The problem that has been bothering many Slack users is the lack of notifications.
Users aren’t receiving notifications on their devices from the Slack app even though they have unseen messages. This will result in a lot of delays in the work and a lack of coordination in the workplace. So here are some troubleshooting methods that can fix it!

Troubleshoot Slack Notifications on a computer:
Troubleshooting the Slack notifications on a computer is relatively easy when compared to a mobile phone. First, open the Slack app and go through all the messages that are unread. Now press CTRL+COMMA to open preferences. Navigate to the Notifications setting. Check if all the notifications are allowed. Also, make sure that DND is turned off. This is the first step. If doing this alone solves your problem then so be it. But if the Slack notifications are still not working, continue reading.
Navigate through your computer using the following directions – Press Windows key + I on your keyboard > System > Notifications and actions > Turn on Notifications. Now restart Slack and check if the notifications pop up as usual.
Troubleshooting steps for a mobile device:
Long press the app icon on your phone. A small window will appear on the screen. From that window, select ‘App Info’. After that, select ‘Force Close’ and ‘Clear Cache’ in that order. Now open the Slack app again and check if notifications pop up. Another possible reason for the problem can be a lack of permission.
Open the settings app on your mobile device and navigate yourself to Privacy settings or Notifications settings. Check if the Slack app has permission to push notifications on your device. If that doesn’t work, reinstall the app on your phone and everything will be set right.
