Entering the desktop mode:
- The first thing that you need to do is press and hold down the power button on your Steam Deck.
- After this, you will see a couple of options. These options will be Sleep, Shutdown, Restart, Switch to Desktop, and Cancel.
- From these options, you will have to choose the “Switch to Desktop” option.
- After selecting this option, you will see that your Steam Deck will boot to Desktop Mode.
Exiting the Desktop mode:
Exiting the desktop mode is way simpler than entering it. When you are in Desktop mode, you will see an icon in the top-left corner of the screen. The icon should say, “Return to Gaming Mode”. If you double-tap on this icon through Steam Deck’s touchscreen, you will be able to exit Desktop Mode and return to Gaming Mode. However, this process might take a couple of seconds. But what if the “Return to Gaming Mode” icon is not visible on your Deck? To tackle this issue, you will have to press the Steam Deck icon which is present at the bottom right of the screen.
