SunnySide is the latest entry into the farm simulator genre by developer RainyGames and publisher Merge Games. This newly released game features a modern world in the Japanese countryside, where you, as a player, have purchased a plot. Unlike most farm sims, SunnySide integrates the simplicity of the countryside world with the complexity of today’s era. From mastering the art of farming 113 crops available in-game to building healthy relationships with the locals, it is a very relaxing experience. Given the game’s recent release, many players have given the demo as well as the full game a try. And the most common issue that they have complained about is the game’s poor performance on high-end systems. From constant FPS drops to low in-game FPS at all times, these issues have driven many players away from trying the game out. But, acknowledging the problem, the developers have shared their take on the matter. So, what did they say regarding the low FPS and stuttering issues in SunnySide? Continue reading to know.
Although the role of consistent FPS in a relaxing farm sim game like SunnySide is not so important, this doesn’t mean that the game doesn’t deserve any optimizations. Players with high-end PCs have also shared that in certain in-game areas, the FPS just drops significantly, sometimes leading to crashes as well. This is a huge problem that the developers have to deal with as soon as possible, or else the player base is going to shrink fast. That said, let’s see what the official team has to say about the matter.

SunnySide Low FPS & Stuttering troubling players, issues acknowledged by devs
After providing a bunch of updates for SunnySide’s demo version, the game’s full release was met with high expectations from players who were hopeful that it would receive an optimization update. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as the FPS drops and stuttering issues continued. However, the developers did share that they are aware of the problem and are in fact working towards fixing it for good. On June 15, 2024, they released an official announcement that addressed the matter regarding the game’s poor optimization. Here’s what they said:
Hey everyone!
We thought it was very important to address something as quick as possible:
Performance and Optimisation.
Thank you for leaving your feedback, we hear you all in the reviews and our Discord community. Following performance and optimisation issues that some users have been experiencing,
the team is hard at work to create the first performance patch in the next couple of days.
This will be the first of many updates and patches as we continue to support SunnySide post-release.We hope that any performance issues you may face don’t stop you from enjoying what the game has to offer, but if it does rest assured that it is currently the most important topic at the studio.
We’ve also noticed a few users having trouble saving the game and making it past the first day. This issue is caused due to antivirus software preventing the SunnySide application from creating save files. To resolve this issue, please allow SunnySide as an exception in your antivirus software, and the issue should hopefully be resolved.
If you still have issues with saving, please feel free to either join our Discord community or post a topic on our steam forums. The team will help you as soon as possible.
We also want to say a massive thank-you to the amazing community for the support and love for the team and SunnySide. We couldn’t believe that SunnySide made it to the “New and Trending” tab and the whole team was freaking out! So
thank you!
Thank you for reading, and we’ll see you soon in the next update with our first patch!/blockquote>
Well, this was shared on June 15, 2024, and as of now (June 17), such an update hasn’t been released yet. For now, all you can do is wait, as the official team is at work to get rid of this problem. Once the update goes live, make sure to download and install it. For the time being, what you can do is access the game’s Graphics Settings tab, disable VSync, and set Shadow Quality to Low. After this, check if the FPS stuttering is somewhat stable. If not, tweak the in-game settings a bit.
